*Killer*, yes; I thought as much, but I also thought he tended to list campaigns that were officially recognized as well. I should have been clearer, but now correct and defer my recommendation according to yours; though I would recommend people also check out Duskreign's COTMs, since those are all very well done too.

*BraulioB*; you're welcome! The campaign definitely has a lot going for it; really just needs to capitalize on that across the board, which is gimped a bit by the organization.

*Magavendon*, hold on; I'm sure someone will get to it before the week is out.

*Edward_D*; using the example from the other thread you "started":http://forums.obsidianportal.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=2424&page=1#Item_0 ; now, I actually like your organizational system overall, but if you wanted to take that beginning section as a "Religions" or "Cults" page, linking to each of the separate cults/religions on separate pages (rather than to the founders), you could then link back to your "main cults page" by including a wiki link at the bottom. Now, because of your current organization style, most of the back links would just go to the main page, and that'd be fine. I guess I'm just one who prefers a more immersed interaction (i.e. you can easily get back & forth w/out using browser functions). Adding this function to your nav box, would be a trick, unless you literally do link +everything+ to & from the main page (i.e. w/ nested trees), as you'd practically have to overload the browser function, which would be a pain (I'm not even sure how to do that). However, if you're linking everything to/from the main page; then simply add a new row to the top, and put in that row: "Return," "Main Page," or "Return to Main." If you don't do that (probably wise depending on how much sub-paging you do), then a simple "Back" as I descibed above might be your best bet.

My review of Magavendon's "Progression into the Stars":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/progression-into-the-stars I must state that I have been a fan of this campaign for a while, but since no one else has taken a crack at this, I will.
*Start Page-* This is one of the more unique start pages on OP, mostly because of approach. The logs as your beginning- well, many say that they are the most important part of the campaign. I still wish that you did a different page for the logs, and said something about your game here- but it looks good, and is well organized.
*Adventure Logs-* The logs themselves are full of links (something I like) but lack any pictures. They would help.
*Wiki-* The Sector-System-Planet-City is a good idea, but I would put them in a table, or at least make it more obvious which is which. The world creator is excellent. The CP program is a good reward system (pretty generous) but what does CP stand for? Again, needs pics and colors.
*Others-* Items are pretty dull, as are the characters. I would put them fully into the wiki, rather than linking out to the items and characters pages, for consistency.
*Overall-* You have one of my favorite nav bars, and some great info. I would extend the bar out so that there is no white space. I also highly recommend adding more pics and color- I know space is empty, but your wiki should not be. Bring the characters and items into the wiki, and keep pushing the envelope.

Thanks Killer! This should get me motivated to get more work done now! :)
I'll definitely try to get it to look more appealing!

As far as the homepage is concerned I think I'll leave it with the logs for now, because I don't really know what to put, as far as description is concerned, for it otherwise.

EDIT: Oh and CP stands for Character Points. It is the GURPS equivalent to Experience Points.

So I just finished with updates for our DFRPG "The Emerald City":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/the-emerald-city Site. I changed the front page as suggested and finally finished reformatting all the NPCs. All 70+ of them. Whew. I also added images for the Logs to break up the text some.

I would love to hear what you guys think.

Thanks Killverp. I appreciate the kind words. I am still considering what you were saying about making the home page smaller. I am just not sure what to put there if I were to do so.

Hey all, I figured I'd throw my ticket in the hat here because I've kind of run into a road block with this one.

    "Zeroed":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/zeroed

There's two things I'm struggling with designing this one. The first is the images, and setting them against a white background like that while still having a sci-fi or cyberpunk feel to the page.

Right now they're just set as is but with many of them it doesn't seem like its "connected" to the page.

The second is organization. As you can see, the page is a mess. The vehicles and cybernetics is still unfinished, technology is just a giant list. I know that its _wrong_ but I'm not sure how to go about making it right.

The general organization on the main page will be -> rules and campaign info on the left, character and adventure info on the right.

The game hasn't started yet so there are no adventure logs as of yet, and only a couple of the players have finished their characters but the two that are done should give you an idea of how the rest will be presented.

Any tips would be appreciated! thanks!

Since my campaign is pretty brand new I doubt it's worthy of a full review yet. Still would love feedback and ideas on design and layout. Just learning how to use the OP. No real experience at coding so I'd like to see what I can pull off with the available features. For the moment the images are scavenged off the web, but I'm looking to a friend who is a talented artist to provide some original artwork down the road. Also, this is a solo campaign so, in most cases, it's written for an audience of one. We are using the forums for back and forth role play and using the WOTC virtual table for combat. Trying to use the OP in a slightly different way. This is largely a creative outlet for me but I love to get ideas from my players and I'd love to hear from the OP community.

Incedentially Arsheesh...I've been seeing your posts in a variety of places around the web, esp relative to maps. I'm looking at the various resources, hexographer, CC3, GIMP etc..would greatly appreciate your insights and advice as to which one is ideal for OP. Thanks In advance!

    Regarding "Zeroed":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/zeroed

First, a pretty glaring deficiency is the sidebar; people who are now accustomed to that are expecting it to float and keep up with the page. However, I can only redirect you to others who have done that successfully: check Chainsaw's "guide list":http://forums.obsidianportal.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=1114&page=1 for more info.

As for cleaning up your organization, you can start by transferring specifics to alternate pages, and linking from the parent page. Taking Technology for example, everything related to "2.0" can be moved to a page called "2.0" or some other appropriate name (since dots might give you an issue); Weapons certainly deserve their own page(s), as does Defensive Gear; pretty much the same goes across the board. Wherever you have bullets, those entries should be moved to a dedicated page, unless there's only a few major headers with only a few bullets each. It's up to you whether you want to have some sort of tag or brief for each link, but it's not required; "Weapons" is pretty self-explanatory, and by the rule of consistency, that means you shouldn't have a description section for "2.0" on the Tech page either. Let the Tech page be a sort of sub-menu that allows one to explore the relevant details. There are other ways to organize your site, but I think a more standard, layered approach will work better for you; just don't go too crazy: it's very easy to get lost when there's 6+ levels of navigation to worry about. That goes for the Main Page too, especially since your only bullets are frankly redundant (let the samples be linked from the Tech page, and/or their respective sub-pages, and/or the glossary or some other miscellaneous page).

Quicknote: .01% = 1/10,000; which is about 1 in every small city, and on the order of 10 in a large city up to 1,000 in a major city like L.A. (assuming an order of 10M for L.A.). That means that even in L.A. it would be quite improbable to run into any sort of alien unless you're lucky. I recommend either clarifying who would be surprised by an alien, or upping that % to at least 0.1% or even 1%.

On corporations, if you're assuming a monopolistic (or near-monopolistic/oligopolistic) framework, you should note that; otherwise people will expect some sort of competition between various corporations that provide similar products/services (e.g. Ford vs GM, Apple vs Microsoft, Edison vs G.E., etc.), and wonder about them. If Microsoft is the only software game in town, that should be established in your discussion of corporations; perhaps put in an intro to corporations at the top of the page? Also, "Tier 1 Corps:" is a dangler there; if it's a header, it should be enlarged (h5. or h4.), and "corps" has a definite meaning, if you're not using that, you should probably clarify. Same goes for a number of other terms (psyche). Psyche could easily be converted to psych, for example, which has a less formalized meaning that can be abridged.

There are some odd line placements that cause confusion within certain pages (e.g. psionics).

Prestige points, as well as a lot of the other strictly game-mechanics stuff can probably all be lumped under Game Rules; but remember to apply the same format as to Technology, i.e. Rules => Prestige Points; though you may want to keep logs of XP, Prestige Points, and other similarly generic things separate (and off to the right on your main page). If you do, be sure to clarify that those are 'currently accumulated' things.

Need to wikify more; couldn't find a direct definition of a contractor, other terms remain similarly ambiguous; remember, we haven't all played SC or watched Bleach.

Suggest alphabetical structure for your Glossary (and more completeness - but I'm sure you knew that).

If you don't want to have a lot of pages, an alternative is to link in-page.

When it comes to images, I think the key is to make sure they fit the space. For example, if your newspaper image on the timeline fills the width of the page, that would probably help a lot. Other than that it's just making sure that the image fits the context, and is the best image to portray your vision.

Overall, the concept is intriguing, which is perhaps most important. You also have a very fluid, well-written Home Page, which is a definite plus.

    Hope this helps!
    -Beaumains

    Wow...great thread!

So, I have two campaigns going, one for D&D 3.5 with my homebrew world. I would love any feedback you guys may have for it.

    "The Watchtowers of Shadowgate Depths":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/the-watchtowers-of-shadowgate-depths

Also, I'm starting a Dark Heresy campaign, and would love some great feedback on where to go with the over all development of the campaign wiki.

Thanks for getting to Zeroed Beaumains. Could someone give an updated review of "Emerald City":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/the-emerald-city as I have done a previous review of that site.
Now with the paperwork out of the way, on to "Violent Skies":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/violent-skies
*Start Page-* There is a lot of white. Would go with a color background, and enlarge your banner pic, with the name of your campaign on one of the sides of the pic. There are some great picture manipulators on the Portal if you can't do it yourself- check the "Work Exchange":http://forums.obsidianportal.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=2275&page=1 I love the intro text- really well done.
*Adventure Logs-* Not many logs, but they are fine. Needs some color and pictures. I like the summary- I would put it in the wiki.
*Wiki-* Again, needs color and pics. A lot of dead links, but as you said it is a work in progress, you know this.
*Overall-* Good start. Needs color & pics.
    Send Arsheesh a pm.

Thanks so much killervp. Definitely still in the learning stages of adding elements. As I mentioned, I've been scavenging pics off the web and throwing them up there. From what I can see, this appears to be SOP for many, still I'd love to find ways to customize and personalize. I'll continue to be motivated by some of the excellent stuff I've already come across here on the OP. Definitely encouraged by the responses of so many here. Feels like a great community. I hope to I can contribute.

Ok re-posting to have mine re-reviewed. I have given the quotes the author like was recommended and linked their names to their appropriate wiki. Fixed the navigation sidebar and have started the process of converting the combat from bullet point to cinematic. And also fixed the images for the links on the wiki. Concerning the music for grooveshark for some reason OP does not like the base widget for grooveshark so I can't edit the image, or make it autoplay (although I have emailed the support site so I can see if there is a way to overcome it).

So now what do I need to fix?

Review of Darkanglmarine's "Watchtowers of Shadowgate Depths":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/the-watchtowers-of-shadowgate-depths That is a mouthful...
*Start Page-* Good banner, but would expand it and put the campaign name on it. Especially when the following picture fills the page better. Would move character creation into the Wiki, as well as all the character stuff. Expand a little on the story, and make the background for the type something other than white. Speaking of backgrounds, a space background does not fit at all with the campaign. The "DM Only" section you have is a great summary- but call it a summary, and put it in the wiki. Also you should credit the wonderful GM whom you stole the SEX from....
*Adventure Logs-* There is some good stuff here, but the lack of pictures hurts.
*Wiki-* THERE IS NO WIKI? Please either make it, or change it from gm only.
*Others-* Characters- found no backgrounds- get your pcs to give you that. It helps you create a world that is more interactive with them. The only 2 Items were very well described. The only map is of an inn.
*Overall-* You have some great ideas, but you need color and some more work. Ask your pcs to get involved, and remind them that the more involved the more all will enjoy the game.

thanks killer. That definetly gives me some direction as to expand my efforts in. The Wiki should be created....it's all world info. There is only a small portion of it that is marked as GM only... Not sure why you had the issue there. If you want to take another look let me know and I'll unmark everything. Thanks!

wow....I can't beleive I missed that! I completely had the check box for GM only marked. :/ Thanks for the find. Now you should be able to see it. I can't seem to find the original link I had to the SEX topic. If you have it, or know the original poster of the idea (I think it was Micah... or I read something he wrote about the idea...), I would greatly appreciate it. Regarding HumAnnoyd's "Emerald City":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/the-emerald-city:

Overall I really like the site; it's very good the way it is, and the following suggestions are optional.

    1) I really like the intro; it's very fluid, cohesive, inviting, and immersive; I really have no bones to pick here; except that your note at the bottom would make a great link to an acknowledgements page, unless Wolfhound really is responsible for everything that can be attributed to someone.

1b) Speaking of acknowledgements, one thing I think is very important is to source any material as much as possible; especially artwork, even if you're the artist. Whether you do that with hidden or overt tags, links, or whatever is up to you, but you have a lot of really good art and it'd be good to know where you got that from. I think a lot of people underestimate the effect that art has, and unintentionally undercredit sources. I point this out because if there are any other acknowledgements you've made, they're not easy to find.

    2) You seem to have a very simple, linear format, which is excellent! Makes finding and reading things easy, keeps continuity, and all that good stuff. Meanwhile you have a decent amount of wikification that makes if quite convenient to look things up that may or may not be readily known.

2b) I'm not very familiar with the system, and would've liked to be able to easily see how certain things work in your campaign, what exists, and the like. For example, its pretty obvious that magic is a big part, and at least some classic monsters are a part of the story (if a non-standard interpretation); it would be good to have something to look at to see how these things work a) in the standard rules in general, and b) what, if anything, is or can be different in the Emerald City. You also have a direct wikipedia link for Seattle, which obviously doesn't include magical or monstrous events (but is still an awesome addition), so it would be good to see just how this alternate version may be different, if at all, whether that comes from sourcebooks or your own imagination.

    3) The logs are awesome, generally well written, gripping; feels like I was at the table when it happened. You have a few spelling/grammatical issues that break it up some, including a reference to a character using a "glamour" (as opposed to glamer) to escape, which is funny if intentional, but that kinda breaks the usual feel of a "Dresden Files" game.

    4) Characters are well done; even without a reference to the rules, I can get a fair idea of how the character operates, what they're like, and what they do.

    5) I like the simple linearity of the main page; there are only two improvements I can suggest. As mentioned before, it would be great to see some acknowledgements, perhaps the main page is where you want to put that. Also mentioned before, it would be good to see some setting related links, whether previously established or your own imagination; fleshing out the map (or adding new ones) to show where everything is would be cool, but not necessary. However, being able to get a feel for how The Emerald City - as a whole - differs from classic Seattle would be really great. One other thing; your layout gives you the unique opportunity to make convenient double links, or to tie your existing links to a broader area. For example, your main page character stubs could be links as a whole (i.e. the whole box links to the character), or the character name could hold a second link, as it is just as intuitive a link as the image. Probably not a big deal for those used to your system, but helpful for those browsing through.

Otherwise I really have to echo Killer on this one; looks sharp, well done, and it can only get better.

    Hope this helps!

    Regarding "Changing History":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/l5r-changing-history

Can I just say "YES!"? Also gonna echo Killer here - go win COTM already!

    1) I love that you've not only cited the speakers, but also linked to them so I can read more about them - perhaps I'm weird that way, but two thumbs up nonetheless.

    2) I like the simplified side menu; you may want to see about bringin it down to the middle of the page; but it works where it is too, so that's purely a style thing.

    3) I would add a link to the main page in the actual home page, I know it's kind of redundant, but it will also flow better. Also, back-linking (i.e. back to previous) will enhance the appearance and experience of your site.

    4) Not sure what you're talking about by converting to cinematic, but that does sound cool. However, where I'm seeing bullet points, they're actually fine.

    5) I don't know if I missed this before, but you've got at least one page under mechanics with block underline. Very likely you've got a (+)

Change the name or the link- crashing tides and chasing time will confuse people. Good banner. Start page does not grab me. Nice job with the wiki table to start, and the 3 nation summaries are good- needs color. Good beginning.

Again, seems that this is just beginning- at least I had hoped so, as there is NO Color! However, the first log goes back to July, so obviously not a new campaign.
Good logs, has lots of potential (pcs as werewolves-nice, London is always a great setting) but needs fleshing out, color, and more to grab attention. There are a lot of great ideas here- look at the more popular campaigns and the ones that have won COTM for inspiration- I definitely recommend the FAQ page as well.

My players and I have been working hard on getting the page for our Kingmaker Adventure Path up and running, and I would love some scrutiny from you all. We're going for something original that showcases the uniqueness of our take on the Adventure Path. We're also hoping to ensure that the site enables a "reading" of the adventure to non-players, as we have several out of game friends that follow us.

My final goal for the page is to archive the game, so that long after we're done we can come back and read the page to relive the experience in an aesthetically pleasing manner.

Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
