I would also suggest Etherscope and Hero System. That would suit me nicely.

I'm interested in Hellas, described at Hellasrpg.com. This is based on the omni system, or basically Talislanta 4th editions.

Now that I've mentioned it, Talislanta might be nice to have as well. Unfortunately, the publisher is on hard times and I think the official site is down. But it is legit (actually WOC did its 3rd edition. Its up to number 5). You can see products listed for it at "Drivethroughrpg":http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=talislanta&x=0&y=0&quicksearch=1&search_filter=&filters=&search_free=&search_in_description=1&search_in_author=1&search_in_artist=1"

Would it be possible to add a Generic or Homebrew for each category? Such as:
    Homebrew Fantasy or Generic Fantasy
    Homebrew Sci-Fi
    Homebrew Horror

Someone might mix and match systems for their campaign, or even design their own system. Or maybe even be playing something that is not in the list. This would give a placeholder until such a time as it is added.

    Just a thought.

I would like to second vhesper's request for homebrew. I'm working on a homebrew gaime system and would be interested in other homebrew games.

You know, (and this is just me talking, not an official Obisidian Portal statement) I'd love to see a whole new section of the site dedicated to homebrew or garage studio type work. Where you can colaborate with other Ascendant users and come up with your own game systems right here on Obsidian Portal. Then, when it's gone through playtesting and what not, the rule books (which would be created here) could be downloaded right here on Obsidian Portal, and available to anyone with an Obsidian Portal account.

Also, while we're dreaming, I want a pony!

Sorry I don't want to wade thru the gazzilion posts, but I Obsidion Portal seems to be lacking OSRIC as a system/game choice. If it wouldn't be any trouble could it be added?

For those not in the know - OSRIC is short for Old School Reference and Index Compilation, describes itself as "a compilation of rules for old school-style fantasy gaming...intended to reproduce underlying rules used in the late 1970s to early 1980s". It is a role-playing game. Although OSRIC never refers to this directly for legal reasons, it is intended to reproduce the rules of the first edition of Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. It's Free to download and just as fun as you remember OD&D to be!!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OSRIC

    Cheers!

    Hey everyone!

This is an update to let you know that we've added two new systems today!

    1) The long awaited, DEMANDED 'other' category! Flag your homebrew, customized, and totally unique systems and game worlds here!

    2) Dark Hersey. GRIMDARK!

Tune in next week to see what new system makes the cut for New System Thursday! Until then, keep those requests coming in.

    Good Gaming,

    Hi there

Discovered this site via a fellow player in a pbp game on ENWorld. Looks really nice, hope to use it sometime.

I've had a look through most of the thread, and here are a few more systems I have lying around that I can't see on the lists. Whether a) anyone wants to play them and/or b) you can even find some of them is open to question but most of them have their own loyal following, and are often quite good games that might just have slipped under people's radar (or be older than them...)

Arcana Evolved - Monte Cook's 3.5 variant. Basic D20 rules are there but the classes and races are completely different, as are some of the mechanics. Rite Publishing are currently doing a patronage project 25 part adventure path for it so it's still being supported by 3rd party developers

    http://www.montecook.com/cgi-bin/page.cgi?mpress_MCAE
    http://www.ritepublishing.com/ritualsofchoice.html

The Babylon Project RPG - rpg based on Babylon 5 that came out before the Mongoose B5 (D20?) game so if you like the setting but don't like D20...

    http://www.pen-paper.net/rpgdb.php?op=showbook&bookid=1094

Sovereign Stone - written by Don Perrin and Lester Smith, based on a world devised (I think) by the artist Larry Elmore. Again, went on to become a D20 product, but had its own system prior to that. Looks similar to things like Cortex but I've never played it.

    http://index.rpg.net/display-entry.phtml?mainid=3395&editionid=3731

Heroes Unlimited - Supers game written by Kevin Siembieda so from the same stable as the Palladium RPG.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heroes_Unlimited

And seeing we are on supers games...

Golden Heroes - even earlier superhero game from Games Workshop. Randomly roll your powers, then come up with a background to justify them all!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Heroes

I know Champions is on the list, but as you have Fantasy Hero as a separate listing, might want to consider Dark Champions as well as although it runs off the HERO systems rules it's effectively a separate product line for HERO Games. And Pulp HERO.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Champions
    http://www.herogames.com/productsDarkChampions.htm
    http://www.herogames.com/productsPulpHero.htm

Superworld - Chaosium's version of men in spandex. Long since out of print BUT now that BRP is out (and do you include *that* as a system as opposed to Runequest, CoC etc individually?) in theory you can re-construct something pretty similar

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superworld

And on Chaosium games, Stormbringer (there was also a Hawkmoon game I think) was different again from RQ. Rules for demon summoning and binding, even more lethal combat system, and quite a few other products in the line

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stormbringer_%28role-playing_game%29

Does Birthright count? A (2nd? Ed) D&D campaign world, but with new rules and much more political IIRC so much different to say a Forgotten Realms or Greyhawk type setting

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birthright_%28campaign_setting%29

Can't believe nobody has called for TORG! One of West End Games lines, one of the first multi-genre games and still with a dedicated fanbase

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torg

Dark Conspiracy (by GDW), and Conspiracy X 1st (Eden Studios) and 2nd editions (system changed to Unisystem) for those of you with an urge to play the X files. 1st Ed Con X had a great mechanic where you got to use the Zener cards used in parapsychology/ESP studies - if *you* (not your PC) could guess what the symbol was, you succeeded on your action.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_conspiracy
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conspiracy_X

Combat Stats D12 (CS-12) - generic from Cobra games most suited to near future/sci-fi

    http://www.cobra-games.com/pg000.html

Fireborn - so want to try this out. Has a rad mechanic where all of your action dice come from 4 pools representing the 4 elements; you can dynamically switch dice from pools in game, but then have to deal with the consequences of having less dice for other things. Allows you to create great combo moves. Background maybe not to everyone's taste though - your characters are draconic scions who split their time between a fantasy world and modern day London

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fireborn

Wow, first time and I broke the post. More in part 2...

    A few more:

Hard Nova - fairly simple sci-fi from PIG

    http://www.pigames.net/store/default.php?cPath=32

    PIG also do:

Two Fisted Tales - if you like Pulp but don't want to use Savage Worlds

    http://www.pigames.net/store/default.php?cPath=46

And Iron Gauntlets is their fantasy rpg, for which the Steampunk Musha supplement is available

    http://www.pigames.net/store/default.php?cPath=40
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klD7i_DvDHI (Game Geeks review of both)

As there seems to be a revival in old D&D 'clones', Wayfarers is another

    http://yeoldegamingcompanye.com/wayfarersmain.htm

And last but not least, Paradigm Concepts' Witch Hunter, where the players, er, hunt witches and other assorted supernatural types in the 17th century. As always with Paradigm, a bit niche but production values are really nice and it's a fairly simple ruleset

    http://darkprovidence.net/

    Whew!

OD&D (which would probably be D&D(1974),
    D&D(2e)
Swords & Wizardry (ENnie award winning retroclone for OD&D)

    I'd also alter D&D(1.0) to be D&D(1e) and add OSRIC (D&D 1e)

    Thanks! :)

I have set up a page for my intermittent Ironclaw campaign. http://www.sanguine.com/our-products/ironclaw/
There's also Jadeclaw, but that uses the same system & on the same world so I don't see that it needs a separate listing.

    Hi all,

Because we're swamped with the up coming character/npc changes to the site, there's no new system today. We'll add two next week though!

    Good Gaming,
