    Mouse Guard uses the Burning Wheel system, which is already listed.

    I would like to second Hawking's request for "Classic Spycraft":http://www.crafty-games.com/product_catalog/classicspycraft and "Spycraft 2.0":http://www.crafty-games.com/product_catalog/spycraft20 .

    I hate to keep poo-poo-ing on people, but mechanically doesn't Spycraft just use the D20 system?

    But isn't it easier for someone who might be looking specifically for Mouse Guard or Spycraft campaigns (to take advantage of NPCs, or story ideas, or the like) to actually find them if they are separately listed?

    The question becomes where do we draw the line? Should we list out every campaign setting thats been put out for 3.5 Dungeons and Dragons? Seems a little superfluous.

    I don't actually have a dog in this particular hunt (I actually feel much more strongly about the absence of a homebrew identification, as I have had hounds run in that particular pack and would like an easy way to find others who do the same), but as a lawyer I'm a professional devil's advocate. (Not that any of *my* clients are devilish in any way, of course.) (Shall I add more parentheticals, replete with obscure legal terms in Latin?)

    Is Mouse Guard's relationship with Burning Wheel, and Spycraft's relationship with D20, the equivalent of Greyhawk, etc., with D&D? (Seriously, I don't know.) The flavor of playing a bunch of mice seems to be so fastly different that it merits a separate listing in a way that the flavor of Greyhawk from the generic sword & sorcery fantasy milieu probably does not. Spycraft -- never looked at it, so have no opinion whatsoever.

    There are separate identifications for Werewolf, Vampire and Mage for the World of Darkness; a listing for Spirit of the Century for the Fate system. Is it that difficult to add a separate listing for Mouse Guard and Spycraft? (Seriously, I don't know the answer to that question, and would like to know.)

    Now, allow me display amature hour in the old debate circle.

    Is Mouse Guard’s relationship with Burning Wheel, and Spycraft’s relationship with D20, the equivalent of Greyhawk, etc., with D&D?

    Well, Greyhawk is a bad example because its the primary setting for 3.5 D&D. Its like comparing the relationship of those other games to the Dogs in the Vineyard setting with the Dogs in the Vineyard game. But, I see what you're getting at. Perhaps a better example would be Eberron with D&D 3.5

    To that I say yes. I can't speak of Spycraft because I have a very very limited knowledge of it, but for Mouse Guard its clearly built on the Burning Wheel system. In fact, the book is imprinted with the Burning Wheel logo. Personally, that is where I would draw the line. The tag is "Game System" not "Game Setting"

    As far as the separate entries for Werewolf, Vampire, etc is semi-valid. All of those are technically separate games. I'm not in 100% agreement with their treatment within the site. I would opt for a World of Darkness entire over anything else.

    As for the difficulty of adding new systems, as a programmer I know its not that hard. But getting updates to the list seems to take awhile so I'm just helping streamline what NEEDS to be added and whats a nice addition.

    Ideally, I'd like to see a Game System combo (like we have) and Game Setting text field option. You can select "Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition" for your System and then fill in "Homebrew" for your Setting. Or another example peronal example is that I'm running a game using a hacked up copy of the Savage Worlds system to run a Fallout game. I'd take my System as Savage Worlds because thats my core, and then fill out Custom Fallout Conversion for my setting.

    This would allow people to search first by broad system and then for specific settings.

    I like your combo suggestion.

    (See, I can be succinct as well.)

    I like my suggestion as well... but I've beaten that dead horse for awhile now and Micah and Ryan just don't listen to me :D

    Shouldn't one of us be calling the other names by now? This discussion has been far to civil for the internet.

    In light then of the discussion held by those wiser than I, I would like to /sign the request for a "Homebrew", "Other", or "Custom" option.

    Naturally, if possible I would like to see Epic RPG added (www.epicrpg.com). I will state here, if I have not made clear already that it is not just another flavor of d&d, but a unique and rather elegant set of rules, still being actively developed by Dark Matter Studios. I believe they are about to release their first major revision/supplement.

    I would like to request that "Hero System" be added.

    Seeing that the Hero system has become a multigenre Rules system that has grown beyond just Fantasy Hero and Champions (Both of which are listed here)

    Thanks,
    Tasha :D

    I'm shocked... first that Hero System isn't listed and second that someone is using it for something other then cheap Kevlar. Ba-Zing!

    I rather like the idea of an "other" option. There's always going to be another system, and it would save a lot of the trouble of sorting through piles or requests and adding them. I'm also throwing in a request for "Epic RPG", though I would be satisfied with an other option.

    Ok, I've been gone for a while, but I'll try to add some of these tonight. I'm trying to go through some old posts here on the forum and make sure I'm up to date on stuff.

    Before it got too late and I had to go to bed, I added the following:

    * The Fantasy Trip
    * Cortex System
    * Fate RPG
    * Earthdawn
    * HoL
    * Labyrinth Lord
    * Epic Role Playing

    Since they were requested, I'm expecting to see new campaigns in each of these systems, right? ;)

    As always, I am asking that people request systems for _games they are playing_! This is not an exercise in cataloging every single system out there. That's what wikipedia is for! The main purpose of the game systems on Obsidian Portal is to give people some more background info if they're reading your campaign and are unfamiliar with the system.

    I'll try to add more when I get some more free time!

    Keep the requests coming!

    I have nearly caved to all requests to all systems. It has turned out to be much harder than I anticipated to make the system vs setting vs flavor vs sub-system distinction that seemed all to clear to me when all I played was D&D 3.5, 4e, Champions, and Warhammer.

    I suppose I'll have to sit down and re-evaluate what exactly the goal of the whole "game system" option is. Until I get a chance, though, please bear with me!

    Added:

    * Spycraft
    * Dying Earth
    * Mouse Guard

    Well Back in the day. Champions and Fantasy Hero were "Systems" though they used the same core there were enough differences to see them as systems. As of Version 4.0 (back in 1989) The Hero Games folk, took their Rules and cleaned them up and made them more consistant between genres. Basically the Rules became a core like GURPS, with the Genres (ie Champions and Fantasy Hero) being addon books. Now of course we are on our Second Revision of 5th edition and are looking at the 6th edtion of the rules coming sometime in the next year or so.

    So IMHO "Hero System" is the Core rules. Champions is the Superhero Genre Book, and Fantasy Hero Being the Fantasy Genre book.

    I was quite surprised that you had both Genre books listed, but not the Core listed. My "Dead World" Campaign that I have already started here is a "Hero System" game, that I listed as no game because neither Fantasy Hero nor Champions is the Genre that fits it best.

    BTW thanks for the great site. I would have never considered putting my campaign info online without the easy to use tools that I am finding here.

    I would like to request "CyberPunk 2020":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberpunk_2020 be added to the list, as you already have all my other faves: DnD3e/3.5 and Deadlands. I never really played beyond 2020 and the earlier 2013 set was so short lived I never thought of it as separate, just slightly different, so having CP2020 on the list would suffice for me.

    Thanks in advance, and thanks again for OP, this is easily the best use of "web 2.0" technology I've come across since that phrase was conceived.

    Thanks for adding Spycraft, Micah.

    Since they were requested, I’m expecting to see new campaigns in each of these systems, right? ;)

    Well, our GM uses Yahoo! Groups for our campaign and won't listen to reason about moving it here. But my character is now available to others, and I seem to recall that you wanted characters and items separate from the campaign wikis. (Well, my character was available before, he just didn't have a game system selected.)

    Oh, and for those unfamiliar with Spycraft mechanics, it's more similar to Star Wars d20 than Dungeons & Dragons d20. Yet, really the mechanics go much, much father from the core d20 rules than even Star Wars does. That's why it has its own rule books without needing to reference any part of the Core Rule Books I, II, nor III. In fact, Spycraft has many different campaign settings, including the licence for Stargate. It should hardly be considered a D&D setting. Thanks go again to Micah for noting this!

    I'd like to Second "Cyberpunk 2020":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyberpunk_2020
    Additionally, I'd love to see the following added:
    "All Flesh Must Be Eaten":http://www.allflesh.com/flesh.html
    "X-Crawl":http://ynnen.blogspot.com/2006/08/xcrawl-first-impressions.html
    "Dogs in the Vineyard":http://www.lumpley.com/dogsources.html
    "Ghostbusters RPG":http://www.gbfans.com/games/#ghostbusters-role-playing-game

    I only currently run Ghostbusters from that list, but I have been wanting to run games or play in all of those systems. Part of the lure of listing them is so that people who DO also run these games may list theirs for me to find or I can start posting my game frameworks and attract new players (not enough people I personally know right now have the time AND interest in some of them...)

    Dogs in the Vineyard is already on the list.

    X-Crawl is technically Dungeons and Dragons 3.X - Its just a setting with a few very minor variant rules.

    Good morning!

    I didn't see it requested anywhere else on this thread - could you please add "Robotech":http://www.palladiumbooks.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=R550 ? Although it is a Palladium product, it is separate and distinct from Rifts.

    Thank you!

    If it hasn't already been mentioned would it be possible to add Nephilim? I've just joined and think the site is a great place for me to put central information but I would like to tag my campaign with it's rules system :)

    Thanks.
