I loved the show - different as it is from the books - it's how I got into the novels. Many are the evenings where I write up my Dresden game notes with the DVD playing. :)
If you want to give the books a go, jump in with Grave Peril (Ghosts/Necromancers) or Summer Knight (Fae). The first two books are good, but not Great. Butcher was still refining his craft. He doesn't start the "metaplot" until the 3rd one.
And another
"How do you say 'Mojo' in Irish - Conor":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/dfd/adventure-log/mojo (result of, and with input from the players of Elena and Midori)
One of our original 3 players (Warden Jamie Harper's player) needs to step away from the game for a temporary period (expecting 2nd child) so we did a quick small session to place the character in "park" .. he goes off to Houston to beat up on Fomor (those of you who haven't Ghost Story or Side Jobs - spoilers)
"Side Job - Cuisses de Grenouille - Jamie":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/dfd/adventure-log/frog-legs
Seems to be a theme, Stagelucas writes a "flashback" short story dealing with the events immediately after the events of the Changes novel (again involving Fomor so if you haven't read beyond the Changes novel, or the Side Jobs anthology... spoilers!)
"Don't Mess With Texas Women - Erica":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/dfd/adventure-log/dont-mess-with-texas-women (with significant NPCs Claret, Midori, Hobbes, and "The Iceman")
Whew. Long and winding side stories appear to finally wrap up.
"Godfather - Conor":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/dfd/adventure-log/athair-baisti
(the culmination of an Aspect change and several previously written webisodes... they may have seemed scattered but they were all related - details in the notes)
"Tea Time and Girl Talk - Midori":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/dfd/adventure-log/tea-time-and-girl-talk
(the final chapter - I hope - of one of the other player's lobbing a plot grenade at Conor - Midori may soon be elevated to a PC in the upcoming months - played "Part time" by Stagelucas - currently the player of Erica - Remains to be seen.)

"Campaign of the Month - July 2013":http://blog.obsidianportal.com/shadows-over-new-york-julys-campaign-of-the-month/
So on Thursday most of the group was out for various reasons so we did an experiment.
In FATE RPG there's the "Bronze rule" which basically states... treat everything like a character (skills, aspects, stress, etc.).
So we just grabbed a few NPCs and had a fun time with a Side Job exploring a totally different part of our setting/campaign. I was very refreshing to start all over again in a setting that we know so well (we hit 2 years with Episode 40).

"Matters of Faith - Barbara":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/dfd/adventure-log/matters-of-faith (she discovers her old Foci no longer work... too many things in her life have changed since meeting Matthew)
"Black Silk - Midori":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/dfd/adventure-log/black-silk (where Midori falls on the 'Pirates vs Ninjas' argument couldn't be more clear)

(With humble apologies to Lovecraft and Ashton Smith, both of whose writing I love)
