Map Markers; numbers higher than 10

On my to do list is to add maps that list the great many locations called out in the session logs. I'd like to use the number markers, but the limit of 10 is stumping me there. Any chance of getting those to range higher?

Also, is there a way to include the icon graphics in wiki pages in order to create a map legend?

Edit: Hmmm, is it even possible to include an OP map on a wiki page, or do I need to use the maps category separately? I'd like to use the wiki page as it allows me to easily add a legend etc.

You wouldn't get the same exact setup as the maps tab, and it would be some work (and upkeep as things changed), but you could do some 'jiggery poker' and get something that might be close enough for your purposes. I'm thinking along the lines of using the image files to put your map and map markers on the page, then some HTML map areas maybe, OP insertable tooltips. Could be workable enough for what you're talking about.

.... I'm afraid I'm not sure I entirely follow. But I'm starting to suspect that if I want the wiki format that I will have to prepare the maps off-line. Time to dig into css to figure if zooming and scrolling can be done in pure css.

I totally would like the marker numbers to go up higher! Is this a quick fix?

@Frak_Lou_Elmo, the map markers are just images, so they aren't dynamic, but we could add more.  How much higher were you looking for?

I'd say up to 30 would suit most of my purposes.

@kallak - I looked at copying html from the maps page over to a wiki page. However since the map page relies on the use of iframe and javascript I take it that is never going to work.

I am still intrigued by your comment regarding using the image files and map markers. The image files is easy enough, but is there any way to access the map markers as generated on the maps page? Or do you mean doing that entirely off-line? (Which is my backup plan)

hmmmm for now I was just using them as episode numbers... my campaign is on episode 14.... I mean how far can I drag my players in my personal hell? lol

is it technically possible to make them dynamic? have the icons show an alphanumeric?

I could imagine rather than doing an episode 53 splitting the campaign up into series, so maybe s2.12 kinda thing. Or is all this asking for crazy coding?

I also saw the "do not touch" icons. looking cool. what is the purpose of these? do they need testing before they break maps or something?

@DerkG, @Frak_Lou_Elmo, after a short internal discussion, it sounds like I was wrong and adding additional numbers isn't just a simple task.  And making them dynamic would be even beyond that.  So it's unlikely that either one will happen.

However, one thing you might consider is using the numbers combined with "color gradations" as a way to visually "group" and "order" the markers.  Since you can enter the hex color number on the "Choose A Color section", you could create groups of numbers that differ on a spectrum (for example) from super light pink to very deep red...so 1-10 super light pink, 1-10 kind of light pink, 1-10 light pink...1-10 deep red, 1-10 very deep red.  Then the "Title" or "Marker Text" could be used for specifying the more specific details of the "episode" or whatever.

The "do not touch" icons, or the flags at least, will eventually be moved to a "permanent home".  But don't use them yet, or they might disappear from your map when they get moved.  (The blocks/squares will probably be deleted.)

@thaen thanks for the update. Colour coding would work, but is quite unfriendly to the colour blind out there. Anyway, I'll give some more thought to my strategy here.

@DerkG, ah, I hadn't thought about the color blind thing.  If you come up with something better, do share.

Not knowing what the limitations are that restrict you to e.g. 10 numbers, I really can't... My thinking will be on whether I will be using the OP maps functionality or to fully prepare them in photoshop.

Sorry, I meant something better with the existing functionality...like fully or partially preparing the map in photoshop.

The limitation on the numbers is that they need to be generated as SVG images and we're all busy on other tasks right now, so we just don't have the bandwidth to add that work in just now.

@Frak_Lou_Elmo, there should be a new Map Marker category of "Banners" with the icons that were in the "Testing" area.  Enjoy!

Thanks for the new markers.  Personally, I am cool just using the dragon markers, but if @Frak-Lou-Elmo is happy, then so am I.

@DerkG, turns out there's a way you can add your own custom images as map markers:
