Didn't know there was such a thing as an "email quota".

Depending on what you choose, you buy them in units of 10,000, 100,000 or more.
What they do is deliver your email through their email infrastructure, so everyone gets your email almost simultaneously. They also do stuff like ensure a higher rate of delivery, etc.
If we send email via our own SMTP (send mail transport protocol) server, we're probably restricted to a couple thousand email per hour (else the site gets flagged for sending spam - based on the quantity of email being sent out), and it might take half a day to a day for email we send to get to you.
Er, long story made short. We ran out of email quota, the techs are fixing the issue and we are working towards fixing it by Tuesday morning.
