Is there a place where updates on the reforging process are available for those of us not on the reforging forums? Any posts of progress or that sort of thing?
I have some concern about the focus on the "quick search" bar. Great, Perfect, Stupendous (tm) for things you already know exist.
Hopefully the interface exploring and discovering the wiki portion (i.e. a new member reading up) will remain as viable as our current wiki link structures have been.
I agree twiggy, the NPC vs PC distinction needs to come back. GM only being separate or not is not a big deal, but players shouldn't have to go through the filter list to find their characters, they should be right at the top - where they belong.
FYI:
I brought up the same point of PC v Non PC distinction on the REFORGE site and this was the reply:
"PCs will be prominently displayed on the campaign home page. They will also be prominently displayed on the dashboard. If a player wants to get to their PC, it will be really, really easy.
The characters list page is meant for a larger view of the campaign characters as a whole."

If the above comment is in reference to an optional setup or an expansion of the sidebar box already in existence, then I'm all for it. If it's an indication that portions of everyone's campaign home page are 'set in stone', then I'm 100% against. No offense to Micah or the design team working on the reforge, but I think that would be stepping over the line a bit.. I've always seen Obsidian Portal as a toolbox for people to make their campaign into whatever they wanted - laid out the way they wanted. If the reforge is going to start forcing users to choose a template rather than giving options for making their own, I submit that things are heading in the wrong direction in terms of interface.
My real concern is how much of the existing customization, formatting, etc will be destroyed by the reforging. I happily supported the reforge, but after the Character Page Update, I'm a bit concerned. Really not looking forward to having to redo my entire site, and I hope I don;t have to

For those that do not check the Kickstarter comments, this was from Micah-
"Yes, it looks like we're probably going to miss our initial deadline. The graphic redesign has taken a lot more time than I expected. I'm hoping to give an updated ETA soon. And, just so it's clear, it will be a case of "we need a few more weeks" not "sometime in mid 2014..."

Personally I am happy- having them take the time to make it right is much better, and getting the custom URL's at the same time is awesome!

For those of you with access (and I am kicking myself for not spending the extra $25) any new updates? Seems that when they opened up the invite to the servers themselves they stopped the updates on the Reforge forums- or they are just catching their breath from GenCon, which is completely understandable....
I am with you SkidAce. I like the calendar and when I am running my game I use it, but generally I never get a full response so for me it is just a good way of setting reminders and sending out a quick summary of info. Also, I think Micah's description of "HOW AWKWARD" the present system is does not take into account the simple notion of FAVOURITES. I just click once to go to my site and then click CALENDAR. It is no big deal!

Torg_Smith, thats the part that I am hoping is not the case. I dont want a dashboard as the front end of my campaigns. Central area like my profile page? I can deal with that, although I always skip that via favorites like twiggyleaf does.
I hate to say it, but the more of the Reforging I see, the less I like. I want more capabilities, yes, but I don;t want my sites broken because they've totally redone the entire site, either.

From the bits that have been seen and/or heard thus far, I'm still on the fence about it. I like the back end optimization, GM dashboard, filtering search capability, and having phone/tablet users not seeing something completely different than what I designed on my desktop. Front end design is where I have issues, as it seems to be going away from what it should be. The idea that parts of your campaign page are no longer yours to design and instead are hard-coded is a *huge* no no. It's also irritating that after all this time and reforging and whatnot, we STILL cannot just have customizable tabs as an option. Some people want to organize their site differently than the default. They want a "campaign calendar" tab instead of (or in addition to) a "calendar" tab, or they want to delete (and not just display:none) tabs they aren't using, or change the order of the tabs, or god knows what else. And don't even get me started on the "natural" editing... I will smack a bitch if this becomes the sole method for editing campaigns.
Long story short, I think the reforge is making the site better and faster on the back end, but it's pigeonholing the front end interface instead of giving people more options and more power when creating their campaigns.
There is the public side, and the private side. What you saw in the video is the private side.
I think it is a huge improvement! I don't use certain parts (we don't use the forums, for example) but I am excited about the general idea.
As far as the not being able to customize, Micah has stated that we will be able to customize what the public sees using css as we do now- I agree with Kallak that easily customizable tabs would be awesome, but I don't think that everything will break as Keryth is worried about.
I will also state that this is my impression, and I hope that one of the guys will address this- I am just going by what has been said, not inside info!
My 2 cents...

Much better "out of the box".
More consistent.
Simply better... That is what I can tell you.
