I am going to add genre to each campaign soon (to help with sorting and searching), but that means I need a list of genres. I'll list the ones that I've got so far, but please help me out if I've missed any.
* Fantasy
* Sci-Fi
* Cyberpunk
* Horror
* Superhero
* Espionage
* Modern
* Silly
Let me know if I've missed any, and whether I should collapse any of these categories.
Fantasy can be further broken down into High Fantasy, Romantic Fantasy, Sword and Sorcery, Historical Fantasy and Dark Fantasy.
Science Fiction can be further broken down into Space Opera, (Hard) Science Fiction, Speculative Fiction, Golden Age Sci Fi, and Pulp Science Fiction. Cyberpunk is a distinction too, but that's on the list.
Horror can also be further broken down, Modern Horror, Fantasy Horror, Wierd Fiction, Supernatural Adventure, and in tems of gaming, World of Darkness is nearly it's own genre.
If this is for gaming genre's it may be best to have two sets of adjectives. One set of descriptors being Modern, Fantasy, Historical, and then to distinguish what genre in that basic premise like horror, science fiction, pulp, noir, espionage, etc.
Thanks for all the replies, people. I'll try to come up with a reasonably sized list that's not too confusing. This will be used to allow people to sort the list of campaigns on the main campaign list page.
I think we might allow for tagging in the future as well, so even if someone's favorite genre is not on the list, they can tag it at least.
For now, we're following KISS: Keep It Simple, Stupid.

Humor (I guess this combines with silly, but there are non-silly humor pieces)
Historical
Noir
The others sound good too. Since the list will be used for filtering, more is probably better.
Crime
Romance
Intrigue (politics)

Just a couple of thoughts.
