@nuadaria, ChainsawXIV said he's onboard for using the github page to host forks of JS that the OP Community wants to use in DSTs. So, I guess OP message him to work through the details?

OK, I need some feed back from folks. I have finally gotten around to this. To that end I have forked the repo for the timeline js that I used to make the timeline here. What I am hoping for is thoughts people have about how it works and what's missing.

THE BELOW STEPS ARE FOR CLARITY ONLY. AT THE MOMENT THE TEMPLATE IS STILL UNPUBLISHED.

What you need to do to use it is to create a spreadsheet using the template linked below that Knight Lab offers and fill it in accordingly. Make the sheet public, then plug the URL for that sheet into the single field in the template, it does the rest to build you a "pretty" timeline.

I know this requires keeping your data outside OP which kinda sucks but maybe I will look at pulling data from adv logs and building the json straight from there instead of this default option.

What I want to know the most here is:

    • Is this useful?

    • Would you like month name overrides like I use on my site?

    • Any other features you can think of that might be nice?

The TimeLine DST is now live for wiki pages in all systems.

It requires a little setup via a google sheet(linked above and on the DST), and also allows you to override month names. After that, it does the rest of the work and you get a "cool" interactive timeline without having to understand javascript or have visitors to your site allow that.

I'm happy to help folks wrangle the google sheet, it's not bad but might take half a second to grok.
