Hey folks, since I've gotten some comments and responses along the way, and realized today, I've told no one who I am, I'll stop for a sec and give an intro.
I go by two nicknames, Dragon and Tempest, the former for a much longer time then the later which came about as my life shifted heavily a few years ago and its effort is now being seen in day to day affairs.. So, call me either, or something else if needed, so long as its not late to supper or a good action flick we're ok!
I've been a gamer for 25 years, honestly very very little of that time as a player, I love running the games. As such I took interest in development side while in high school but put it off as the impossible dream, and was content to come up with my own stuff to run and that was it for a few years. After high school and a failed attempt at college (should have spent more time figuring out what I wanted to really be), I took more interest in making the games. I've written off and on since then, but only really took hard to it in the last few years.
Currently, I am in a major development phase, my first actual full world / game / novel series / other things that are popping up. It is very very Steampunk, Neo-Victorian, Clockwork with some flavors that I've not seen done yet that I think will tickle the fancy of Steampunk enthusiasts and gamers alike. Someone turned me in the direction of Obsidian Portal a few weeks ago, and after testing its design against what I needed to do, found that with a paid account, I could move forward much more quickly then what I had been. I will admit that all of my material on OP so far is listed private and restricted access only to those who are part of my development group (more to the point those poor fools who willingly put up with my constantly flowing ideas and lack of organization for whom I would be lost without while floating away on the Niagara Falls of ideas, thoughts, images, concepts, and systems. We are planning to release some short stories to pepper and wet the appetites of those who come along (assuming a couple ideas about being able to show off some stuff while keeping the rest private on here comes along, or my HTML skills for our soon to be home website come together, which ever is faster - : D ), then in 6 months or so, we hope to release a 10 story anthology from the world setting. I am very very happy to be here, I hope that along the way, I am able to help others if needed, otherwise, I'll be in my dark corner pouring my brain into digital dough so that I can bring home the green bread that keeps my roof over my head - LOL ). So those interested feel free to contact me on here, I'll try to set up an updating zone. For now, hope you all keep the dice, digital or not, rolling and let no one repress your creative work!
Will do, I'm glad you guys have this place set up. Its funny you call it Garage Game developers... My father in law bought the house next to ours and we've converted his 2 Car Garage into workshop and game development central, redid the walls and the door into barn doors all with new insulation so that its climate controlled, we have computers set up in a dust free zone for the office and then tools and such for making things on the other side... so I am literally just that, a Garage Game Developer. As to anything I need, bout all I would ask would be to be able to have portions of the campaign such as the adventure blogger avail to the public or just set posts of it so that I can tease the community a bit along the way to build interest in the game, and to have folks off OP come to to see what we are doing as well as show of OP to others who do not know of it. I've already brought you 4 or 5 new people since I've gotten fired up over here. Otherwise, I'll just keep dropping suggestions in the box and we'll all chill and move along as we all can!
Don't quote me on this, but I'm fairly certain that you don't need to be a member of Obsidian Portal to look at a Public Campaigns. So if you want your friends, testers, and fellow devs to see what you've got going on, all you have to do is link them!
Well I've got them all slowly getting signed up as the project is currently private, I was more wanting to release a little bit of public stuff, such as a story or blog here and there, while still keeping things under wraps till my copyright and trademark issues are settled. But I'm thinking today, that I will set up a second campaign and see if an idea in the back of my noggin will work. Thanks again for the replies!
