How the hairy heck do I use this website to find new players?! I have tried posting an ad, but I would like to search in a radius based on my location to find new players and send them messages.

This site isn't really built to do that, unfortunately, although you can look at campaigns nearby.
Pen&Paper games might be more to your liking.
