I don't believe it does so now, but it would make sense for it to count changes to the Maps just like any other page in a campaign. Would be a nice touch for greater unity across the site.
It doesn't, and as a side effect the e-mail alert doesn't go out for map edits either. It would be nice and consistent if it did. I use the map extensively to track and note places the PCs explore. But... I'm not certain they remember between games that the map page even exists.

When I update a map, I update the forum post too listing what has been updated, which is something I'd likely do even if the update feed included that a map was updated since sometimes what exactly has been updated on the map may not readily be apparent.
