Designing Music

So, while I'm working on my various campaigns, Shadows being the most obvious one, I tend to have music playing in the bakground. Am I the only one who does this? Some prefer total silence while they are creating?
And if you do have music going, what type? Or least some titles.
Me? I tend to run a YouTube Playlist I've got. It's pretty eclectic and includes everything
Republica "Ready to Go"
Ray Charles "That's What I Say"
Elvis Presley "Rubberneckin"
Ram Jam "Black Betty"
Alex Gaudino and Crystal Waters "Destination Calabria"
Chic "I'll Be There"
Nickelback "She Keeps Me Up"
Archive "Bullets"
Britney Spears "Toxic"

Yea, like I said, eclectic

I usually listen to Radio Rivendell but they have been offline of late, so I also like to listen to atmospheric/ambient stuff without any vocals when I am designing. Either that or silence.

For alternative independent music of an eclectic palette, I recommend "NBT":http://nbtmusic.de/ (The Next Big Thing music station run from Germany).

For me, it really determines on the phase of the project I am in. If it is the furious concentration stage of creation, then I often listen to the Skyrim ambient on repeat (about 45m long). I'm cruising along, ideas in place, just getting it on paper, movie soundtracks (braveheart, gladiator, 13th warrior, etc). In latter stages where concentration isn't really needed, but I just want something in the background, probably classic rock.

Yay for pandora or my ipod

I do some of my best game prep work while listening to my Alestorm channel on Pandora.

Pirate-shanty speed metal for the win.

But I too have a very eclectic collection of music - Metallica, Billy Joel, Chris LeDoux, Neil Diamond, Flogging Molly, Air Supply, Apocalyptica, and Kenny Rogers are all in my regular rotation.

I tend to put together playlists for particular campaigns or characters, mostly stuff without words. I usually let it play for a while to "get into the mood", then I -slip out of my clothes- (oops, wrong mood) turn it off when I get down to serious writing.

I work to Joe Hisaishi's soundtracks and occasional video game music (mainly ffvi) with some Wagner opera thrown in for that really epic feel.

Oooor I work to chill pop: garbage, poe, troye sivan, banks, etc. Depending on my mood. (though when not working on something creative I don't listen to any of that haha)
