So, despite the suggestion that the inner council do this, I am going to start this up myself. PM me any campaign that you think is worthy, including your own. Include the link!!
I will reach out to some of the old timers that have won this, and get there input as well (Looking at you Twiggyleaf, Keryth987, Basileus, and AZ Rune).

We will announce one each month, starting in February. Submissions due by the 21st of each month. It must be a current game.
Get those suggestions to me, and I will pass them on to the others. Click on my name below.

I think its a great idea, would love to spread some of the love, and a great way to engage the community.

I like this idea, and think it's something that's sorely missed in the community. I've already seen the call for it to be brought back multiple times in just the time I've been here.

Give me some campaigns to look at and I'll happily give you my input KillerVP.

Unfortunately, I've not gone browsing other campaigns lately, as I'm buried with redoing Shadows right now :)

Some suggestions of Campaigns to look at:
"Star Wars: Veil of Darkness":https://veilofdarkness.obsidianportal.com/ A fairly dark Star Wars Campaign with a heavy wiki and good participation.
"The Legacy of Fire":https://our-legacy-of-fire.obsidianportal.com/wikis/main-page Light on content but with some pleasing CSS
    Twiggyleaf's "Mysteria":https://mysteria.obsidianportal.com/ Which I'm a fan of, personally.
"Embyr":https://embyr.obsidianportal.com/ Which has a rich history and pleasantly long adventure logs
"Adoraith":https://adoraith-echoes-of-epirus.obsidianportal.com/ A very indepth dark fantasy campaign including actual pictures of play
"Dragon Age Requiem":https://da-requiem.obsidianportal.com/ by Alex_Redeye if you haven't checked it out already. The CSS on his campaign is spot on
"Outremer":https://outremer.obsidianportal.com/wikis/main-page probably one of the most beautiful looking campaigns on here and has a great wiki
"The Hos Dynasty":https://rogue-trader-the-hos-dynasty.obsidianportal.com/ not the prettiest, but you have to commend those in depth write ups.

These are just some of the ones I like reading that haven't won a COTM yet. I mean there's a lot more out there too.

I definitely appreciate the callout and kind words! :) But I must decline an Outremer nomination, as we did win COTM in 2014 (and we're not playing currently). Plus, I would totally vote for my own campaign if given the chance, and we can't have that!

I'll do some browsing for nominations (can I nominate if I vote? if not, I'll just leave them here for someone else to nominate...).

Currently looking at a couple campaigns:

    "Blood and Bourbon":https://blood-and-bourbon.obsidianportal.com/
"Skrzydła Rocranon":https://skrzydla-rocranon.obsidianportal.com/ (In Polish. Its "Rocranon Wings" and the auto-translated version is "here":https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=pl&u=https://skrzydla-rocranon.obsidianportal.com/wikis/main-page&prev=search)

So all of the people I asked to participate have said yes, so I am very happy!
If it does not get sent to me in a PM it will not go on the list, so please send me a PM "here":https://www.obsidianportal.com/profile/killervp

That goes to the voters as well Basileus....
There are some great campaigns out there.... please don't be afraid to nominate yourself.
Some things that I know at least three of us look for (Twigs and I used to nominate people together, and would sometimes include AZ Rune) is a rich wiki- pictures, parchments, etc, and adventure logs that actually tell stories, not just reporting.

    Just trying to help out.

So, the people that are voting on this- For people who do not know, COTM is Campaign of the Month, and COTY is Campaign of the Year. These were fixtures previously on OP, so while they get all of the issues fixed we have decided to award these unofficially.

Killervp- "A God...Rebuilt":https://a-god-rebuilt.obsidianportal.com is the 4th highest campaign in # of fans, and he has been an active promoter/challenger of OP.
Basileus- Winner of COTM for "Outremer":https://outremer.obsidianportal.com/ and regular forum poster.
Keryth987- Winner of COTY for 2013 "Shadows Over New York":https://shadows-over-new-york.obsidianportal.com/ and fixture on the forums
AZ Rune- Winner of COTY for 2014 "Regnum":https://regnum.obsidianportal.com/
Twiggyleaf- Winner of COTM for "Shimring":https://shimring.obsidianportal.com/ and fixture on the forums.

Everyone get those suggestions in- we will have some of our own, but may miss some, so get them out there! Send me a pm "here":https://www.obsidianportal.com/profile/killervp and it will get to the others from me. Submissions close on the 21st of each month!

Great work, looks like a good start!

I think COTM works best as a community-led initiative - by the gamers, for the gamers, kind of thing.

If you might like OP to kick in with some prizes, feel free to ping me.

PS: If useful we can also create a tab/page at the "campaigns page":https://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns which links to or lists the COTM and COTY winners.

I think the best gift you can give is continue fixing things!
It would be great to add the COTM back into the Campaign page, and a listing of the Campaigns of the Year would be great as well.
I personally think the COTY should be the only one that wins a prize.
    My 2 cents.

I hope also that you can institute the badge for winning COTM on the person's profile, and the player badge as well.

I always loved reading the interview given for the COTM and the fact that it made the front page. It was something that really brought the community together and I would wager a large chunk of our community eagerly awaited the posting of the next campaign. While I love the idea of the community leaders taking suggestions and creating some process to declare winners I strongly believe they should still be recognized on the front page.

    Prizes are fun too!

Haha, I don't know how I missed the fact that Outremer won already, I looked at the previous winners as to not repeat. I feel my running gag is missing things on here.

I also loved the interviews with the winning GMs - it gave us such insight to both their campaigns and to them as fellow gamers and GMs. Front Page or Blog, it deserves a prominent place where the community can access it. I also think a prize for COTY is enough. The honour of winning COTM and having the interview is prize enough!

I look forward to the next interview with great enthusiasm.

    @killervp - noted on
    1) the badges,
    2) creating a COTM-specific listing on campaigns page
    3) blog post: sure thing on posting interviews with the winner, judges' notes, feedback, evaluation, on the entries, or even tips on GMing your first face-to-face campaign, or online one, setting up google hangouts, etc.

eh, sorry for the thread highjack, I'll start a new post about posting on the OP blog.

This is a great idea KillerVp. I look forward to seeing what campaigns are chosen. The "judge" you have chosen are great members of this community. Keep up the good work guys. We can keep this community live!

I also really miss the interviews. They were what made me first start reading the blog section of the site, and it often caused me to read more into those campaigns and favorite them.

killervp is like the necromancer bringing CotM back to life, in "Rise of the Dead CotM", coming to select theaters June 2013. I'm glad the community is still alive. I hope this is only the beginning of member-started initiatives. Let the Spice flow!

I am really glad to see CoTM coming back - it was something I used to look forward to every month. This was a great way to showcase what Obsidian Portal could do and how creatively people were using it. Thank you guys for coming together to bring this back as a fan project.

Just letting you know that Abersade's fantastic "Rise of the Durnskald":https://rise-of-the-durnskald.obsidianportal.com/ is now displayed as COTM winner in the "Campaigns":https://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns page. To access this, just go to the Campaigns drop down at the top of your screen and choose "ALL CAMPAIGNS".
