Online I believe, though we are just south of Cleveland so there are 37 gaming stores in the area she may want to showcase. But I'll put up pics and if you guys like them she would be happy to make them.

And yes, Belrathius, nearly full size. The dragon she is making is smaller because it was a test run but it is coming out so well she wants to go bigger. She is using legit trophy mounts and everything.

    Glad I'm marrying her lol.

Pics would be most welcome, not just of the trophies. Gaming caverns and terrain items would be quite nice, too!

OK, sounds like fun -- just joined the site and starting into something like this?

Preface: I'm 34 and been gaming most of that -- in one fashion or another.

    * First game of any sort was Zelda (the original gold cartridge) when I was 6. Pissed my stepdad off because I beat it before he did.
    * As a little kid -- about 6 or 7 -- I created a game using dice and a map made of playing cards. I don't remember much about how it worked, but I was entirely too amused with it at that age. Something about which card you are, plus a 2d6 roll (because that's what I had access to), versus a targeted wall (facedown card) to break through it...
    * First tabletop was D&D when I was 12 -- mostly just messing around, but it was a LOT of fun, so I kept coming back.
    * Created a homebrew RPG system (based, at that time, on Final Fantasy VI) when I was 15 that was modestly balanced -- then proceeded over the next 20 years breaking and fixing it. Still dust it off from time to time, but the scars show...
    * I've played in D&D 2e, 3e, 3.5e, PF, 5e; both old and modern WoD (finally made my mage! and my ST both loves and hates me because I love putting together my spell levels like a puzzle to make one-off spells...); Anima (didn't care for it, too gimmicky); TOON (very silly but fun); and I used to do a lot of freeform (especially play-by-post Arenas) online before MMOs stole my soul
    * I've run games in D&D 3.5e and am currently running a Hero System game (which is... different, but awesome!)
    * Former MUD builder (The Mage's Lair)
    * MMO addict -- I've invested easily over 1000 hours each in 6 different MMOs (CoX, WoW, SWTOR, FFXI, FFXIV, Aion)
    * I stream MMO gameplay on Twitch (and provide commentary for a second stream in the same channel, which is usually throwback JRPGs)
    * I used to play tournament-level M:TG in my teenage years, though I got bored of format play -- I'm also a former DCI judge
    * I am obsessed with fictional languages in the novels I read; I once wrote a dissertation on the Tayledras language that Larry Dixon referenced at a convention on a panel about fanon modifications to authors' worlds
    * I write sword-and-sorcery fantasy novellas, though none of them have been published because I'm usually too busy with my games to ever 100% finish them to my liking

    ...ok, I think that's it.

Amazing stuff, kissthesky. Are those ruins in the scenes handmade as well? I only ask because they look like the professional resin prefabs you can sometimes find in stores.

Mychyl, welcome! You should share some of that homebrew sometime. I'd be interested in seeing a quality, FF-style RPG system. And from one conlanger to another, I'd also like to read that dissertation if you could send me a link.

Mae- I'd bet a dollar it's made of styrofoam: I saw the same youtube video! (although, I didn't do as good of a job...). I tried mine out of some foam insulation board.

I then tried my own creation out styrofoam, and liked the results much better. Styrofoam "ruins" nicely, breaking it with your hands (rather than burning a straight line with a wire) exposes the bubbles, which accept dry brushing nicely, and can make some cool realistic looking rubble very easily.

    Oh, VERY nice.

I once built a set piece out of a styrofoam disc. That was when I learned the hard way that you don't use spray paint on styrofoam...

If you want to spray paint your styrofoam work, you can usually make it work by starting with a very thorough coat of acrylic primer from the hardware store (though you're better off with a paint sprayer or airbrush if you can get your hands on one). Insulation foam is also the best to work with, because it's dense and fine grained, and therefore sturdy and takes detail well. If you want to do flat shapes (walls, etc) the sheets are grate, and if you want more arbitrary shapes the canned expanding stuff can be blobbed out onto a wire skeleton and then carved down. I love working with the stuff because it's just so easy to sculpt. A hot wire knife or band saw is great for the big cuts, while a box knife and rasps are best for actual sculpting - but don't use your good knives! Cutting styrofoam dulls blades quickly.

    Let's give this a try

I am 42 and have been gaming since middle school starting with the D&D Red Box. Though I have played/run many games I always seem to come back to D&D in some way and form.

    * My longest running campaign was a Mage game that I was the storyteller for that ran for about 3 years in college. I was weekly/every other week for most of the time.
    * I used to live in Atlanta so I have been to DragonCon 4 or 5 times and always loved it.
    * Been to ComicCon here in Phoenix and it was fairly insane
    * I Throughout the years I have run most major systems as well as less well known including things like:
    ** TORG
    ** Cyberpunk 2020
** Most White Wolf games from the classic lines
** Every version of D&D except 5th and that is only because I have not found a group
    ** Multiple Versions of Shadowrun
** Star Wars: West End Games, D20 and the current Fantasy Flight Version
    * I have recently started playing Magic and Force of Will
    * I am amateur Photographer
    * I tend to run games in my own worlds with my own stories
    * For the last twenty years of worked in Software Development as a Developer, DBA, Manager, Platform & Infrastructure Architect and Solutions Architect on Large Scale SaaS systems

That is me in bullet form.

Oh and I own Bumble Bee (A 2012 Camaro SS TF 3 edition that I bought new).

Thirded! (Although I already said this very same thing in my first post)

@berdman - Thanks for your input. I have also played all of the DnD editions, although dropped FOUR like a hot potato and switched to Pathfinder. I highly recommend it, and in particular its compatibility with Hero Lab and the Midgard Campaign Setting by Kobold Press. Bascially, it is like a vastly improved DnD 3.5. Saying that, I can also report that DnD 5e is pretty good.

Hope you find that new group soon!

    Thanks @twiggyleaf.

I have run several campaigns using Pathfinder, realized I forgot to list that.

If you are ever looking for something different you might like "Way of the Wicked":http://www.firemountaingames.com/way_of_the_wicked.html#wotw1 . I don't normally run prebuilt campaigns, but this one is interesting and gives the players the opportunity to play evil characters. The group I was running it for had a lot of fun with it and thought the creator came up with some clever ways to deal with evil players and preventing it from turning into a murder fest.

    Thanks, berdman

Way of the Wicked looks pretty good, but to be honest, I have enough Midgard stuff mapped out to cover the next couple of years, so I doubt if I'll get round to it in a hurry.
