I got a little bug to make a trailer for my Campaign, it is posted up on our Front Page now - check it out and tell me what you think. All the footage is from Inquisition.

    Hey alex_redeye

The video looks really cool. Some of the text a bit difficult to read, but otherwise excellent. The whole site looks amazing as well and is well worth being my new FAVORITE of the day!

Thanks very much - the text in there is actually the little prophecy from Sandal in DA 2, and was not actually added by me so I was unable to further enhance it. I was going to put voicing in of Sandal actually saying the lines of the prophecy but I was unable to find a good recording without a lot of background noise in it that would have lowered the overall quality of the finished product. I must admit though, your Shimring page was one of the ones that inspired me to make a little trailer video for my own Campaign. I noted a few folks who have done that and thought it really added something to their overall pages.

Thanks as well for the compliments on the site itself. Still working on some of the areas intermixed with getting additional content up on there and running the sessions. I hope it inspires the appropriate feeling for the subject matter. OP has really pushed me to get a better grasp on CSS3 which has been a fun little experience.

Lol, I find it funny in two ways: 1) I've been having the same hankering 2) I was also going to use Lux Aeterna as my music. I would love to cut clips of video from, say, skyrim or DA, and blend them into pics of our table of minis doing the same thing. Video editing not a forte

Anyway - video looks great, and the site looks better and better every day, good job!

I figured the track was fitting considering the naming convention of the Campaign. If it makes you a little more confident to try it out, video editing is not my specialty either really, but I popped open Windows Movie Maker (free to download from MS if you don't have it already) and "KeepVid":http://keepvid.com/ to gather up source video clips to use. It took a little playing around with things, but after a little bit I was able to make something along these line (possibly could have done something more complex even, but was happy with how this came out).

Alternately, if you would like, I could probably take a stab at cooking something up for you. I already have the track you wanted, I would just need you to kick over the content you wanted on display and such. In theory it should be doable though, just let me know if you need a hand.

Nicely done. I"ve got some amateurish efforts at doing the same over here: https://planejammer-setting.obsidianportal.com/wikis/the-campaign-trailers

They'll look a lot better when I've got colored versions of the art that's currently in B&W. Would love your thoughts.

I think those are all actually rather well done considering that we as GMs are not inherently a videographer by trade. I see what you mean about some of the artwork, and I think one area in which you might be able to improve would be to see if you can find any clips with some actual motion (be they from videogames or live action movies/shows) to include with them. The still images lack the draw effect of having some actual footage in place. My personal sentiment with approaching something like that, however, is to try and ensure some level of consistency in the footage you decide to use (the most basic concept there being if it is live action stick with that, videogames and animation then stick to that) so it has the feeling of a singular focus. Of course this can get a little tricky to track down exactly what you want to depict (in the case of the two that I have done so far it was a little easier since the source material has its own videogame series I could pillage from).

I think one of the big things you did with those which I actually like considerably more than mine was treating them more like an actual Hollywood trailer. The inclusion of the styled text based screens where you laid out some of the overarching concepts was fantastic. Additionally the consistency of the primary logo clip at the start of each one is also a very nice touch to things (and again helps to instill that Hollywood feel to things). These facets actually go so far as to help cover some of what I was discussing in the previous paragraph as well, distracting from some of the consistency fallouts in the imagery (color vs B&W) and the lack of any real motion over the course of the segment.

Finally, addressing your skills themselves, I think it is clear that both of us are amateurs but I have to say that overall I think you did a fantastic job with all three videos on that page. Transitions were well set and everything flowed fairly smoothly, so certainly don't get any kind of discouragement from that. As time progresses and you make more your abilities will continue to enhance and the quality will continue to go up (I remind myself the same thing on a regular basis). Great stuff, and I look forward to seeing what you manage to come up with next!

Alex has some good points, I would echo them.

But I just wanted to say: I enjoyed them :-)

Yeah, I did one of those for my Zeroed campaign. Even using still images it came out great, but I'd love to redo it with some other stuff. Maybe when the ghost in the shell live action comes out I can do that :P
