Wow..
Been using the site for about a month, keeping track of my own game but decided to try and look for a Remote game.

HOLY CRAP!.. there are so many abandoned games that are years.. yes! Years old.

Is there any plan to clean these up? This honestly makes looking for active games simply a pain in the ass with absolutely no way to filter out campaigns by age.

had a quick look on the support site, and i couldn't find any tickets on this topic....

closest was one asking to make camapigns searchable by number of fans without the 'most recently updated filter' kicking in

http://help.obsidianportal.com/discussions/suggestions/799-campaigns-page - and the reply to that was "This is a low priority issue, but it's on our list. Thanks!"

I guess the same mechanism applies to your request... but dont let that stop you from making a new action request!

Yeah... this has been something we've wanted for a while now. It took us a while just to figure out how Obsidian Portal is currently organizing campaigns!

That thread can be found "here.":http://forums.obsidianportal.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=3617&page=1#Item_0

There is also a help ticket on searching for campaigns "here.":http://help.obsidianportal.com/discussions/problems/12375-search-for-a-campaign-functionality-post-reforge

To sum up: how campaigns are currently sorted is that if a campaign has 20 or more fans, it is then sorted by the last updated appearing first. What this means is that as of 8 months ago, all the campaigns in pages 6-15 hadn't been updated in over a month.

After all the campaigns that have 20 or more fans, _then_ we get campaigns grouped in two's by number of fans. So campaigns with 18-19 fans are before campaigns with 16-17 fans, etc. Within these groups, they are sorted by most recently updated.

This sorting can make it very difficult to find relatively new campaigns, or campaigns that don't advertise themselves but might be very good. Meagoinc started a thread a while ago for "Overlooked Campaigns":http://forums.obsidianportal.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=3618&page=1#Item_0 to help sort out that issue. It might be good to bring back that thread for a bit.

So, yup! I am completely with you, and it would be really nice if we could have some way to organize and sort campaigns at _all._

I preferred it when it simply showed most recently updated campaigns regardless of # of fans. I stumbled on a large number of great campaigns that way.

I have two of my own campaigns on OP at the moment. "Mysteria":https://mysteria.obsidianportal.com/ is active but "Shimring":https://shimring.obsidianportal.com/ is not. However, this does not mean that I would like Shimring wiped off the map. There may still be things in that site I wish to refer to at a later date. I would therefore be very ware of any policy that decided to delete inactive campaigns. Moving them down the list doesn't worry me at all, and I have marked my old Campaign's PLAY STATUS as "COMPLETED".

I agree with cgregory, I much preferred seeing just the most recently updated campaigns regardless of the fan count. I also stumbled across some great campaigns and it was nice that the active new campaigns kept bubbling up to show me new things.

My newest campaign happens to also be my best (in large part because the players are so cool) , itis "Gotham on the Brink" (https://gotham-on-the-brink.obsidianportal.com/) but it never shows up on the list of recently updated campaigns because the word does not naturally get out and I feel that it is getting unnecessarily buried. Is Obsidian Portal trying to drive the GM's to compete (or more accurately) market themselves? That's what it feels like and I don't like it.
