Rykros
Greetings, everyone! My name is Travis, but everyone calls me Rykros. I've been playing RPGs since around the time I was a freshman in high school which puts me at roughly 15 years of experience. But as many of you all know, after graduating from high school and/or college everyone eventually separates to lead their own lives. I was lucky enough that in the past year or so, I've managed to connect back with many of my old roleplaying friends, and I've managed to start a new campaign over VOIP software. As you can quickly assume, this creates some major hurdles such as organization and lack of even the simplest visual aids. Luckily, one of my friends introduced me to Obsidian Portal, and I've fallen in love! It's everything that I've ever wanted to document our adventures and keep track of the many fine details I often insert into my campaigns.
But, this has come at a price. Obsidian Portal's CSS-based system is quite Greek to me. I'm vaguely familiar with HTML and phpBB and I can get by, but CSS has me stumped. It's going to be a steep learning curve, but as long as I can get some simple understanding of the coding to help me with the visual aesthetics of my OP Page then I'll be as happy as a Dwarf with a drink.
It's nice to meet everyone, and I hope to spending a lot of time around here. Please, feel free to ask my any questions or send me a message.

Firstly, I would like to say WELCOME TO OBSIDIAN PORTAL and I wish you all the best with your campaign for the duration of your stay. I have been here for about 4 years and it has been great for organising my campaigns. I started out with just about no html knowledge but gradually managed (with the help of many very helpful colleagues on OP) to piece together a campaign that even caught enough attention to get an award. I must admit that the CSS has me stumped but again colleagues came to my assistance with the "Vanguard Assistance programme":http://forums.obsidianportal.com/?CategoryID=14 encouraging those in the know to help others less fortunate to convert their already established campaigns.
I am still not very good with CSS but you seem like you are a good learner, so maybe have a look at "The Unofficial CSS Help page":http://forums.obsidianportal.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=3057&page=1 where you will find many useful threads and tips. I note there are also tutorials available by trawling GOOGLE. If none of these are enough, I suggest you open up your own thread and ask for help. It is amazing how many Obsidian Portal people will be willing to help you all they can. Not only is OP a brilliant platform for world and game design, but it is also populated by some of the best community members in the world.
Welcome again and good luck going forward!

Just trying to help out.
Thank you, killervp. I've started browsing many of the other campaigns. Predominately for ideas on layout and design more than actual coding, but I'm sure I'll find something somewhere that really catches my eye. In fact, I did find something that I'm definitely going to have to try out! I saw someone that made a video for their campaign that was similar to the introduction clip of a television show. I ~LOVED~ this idea, and that is something I know I can do!

You did the best thing you could in dealing wth CSS here, you spoke up. As others have said, feel free to ask any of us questions. We all were new to OP at one time or another. And, I can attest from personal experience, that the people here are friendly and helpful and encouraging.
So, sit back, relax, and watch your campaign reach a new level of AWESOME

Aaiiiee!
In further support of the "ASCENDANT" status (should you wish to go that way), I will also say that the Forums offered as part of that have been particularly useful for my campaign, generating a lot of discussion between my players and I.
