Free Hexcrawl Adventure by Arsheesh

Hi Everyone,

I just thought I'd let everyone know that I've created a hexcrawl adventure that I'm giving away free at "my blog":http://arsphantasia.wordpress.com/2014/03/09/the-isles-of-mist-a-free-hexcrawl-adventure/. If you aren't familiar with a hexcrawl, its similar to a dungeoncrawl, only above ground in the wilderness. The adventure comes with an introduction on how to run a hexcrawl adventure for the uninitiated. I originally created this for my own campaign, which is set in my "Age of Legends":https://age-of-legends.obsidianportal.com/ campaign setting (I haven't been around much since the reforge and my site is still all messed up), but thought since the work had already been done, that I'd make the adventure available to anyone interested in using it.

Cheers,
-Arsheesh

This is an insanely useful guide, Arsheesh!! The guide to using 'rumours' is quite clever, and the fact that you've broken down so many aspects of play (speeds, weather, visibility, terrain) is absolutely marvelous. The hexcrawl resources you've linked to are also extremely useful (I've downloaded the GIMP script, pronto). I have been struggling with how to possibly break down our vast amounts of wildernesses into campaign-sized bites, and your guide essentially shows me how! Many, many thankings.

Thanks for the feedback Meagoinc, I'm glad you've found the guide to be helpful! However I must say that the mechanics aren't really that novel, just a distillation and adaptation of mechanics I've seen used elsewhere on the web or in published format. I just tried to make it accessible to the DM new to hexcrawls.

    Cheers,

The mechanics may not be novel, but the fact that they've been adapted by someone with experience and distilled from many different sources is part of what makes it useful for neophytes like myself. :) Cheers!

Thanks guys! I'm considering the possibility doing some cover art, filling out one or two of the dungeons and then making it a commercial product over at RPG now. Or maybe I'll just create a simple cover and make it a free product there. Don't know.
