Overlooked Campaigns

edited February 2014 in General Discussion
So, having discovered with SkidAce that the main campaign page is sorted by fans first, and not by updating, this thread is to showcase some of the more recently updated campaigns that don't have more than 20 fans (and thus aren't on the first 9 pages), but which still have some cool things going on and deserve to have some attention thrown their way.

:) So I'm just going to post one a day until they all get the attention they deserve!
    Today's pick:
    "Legends of the Three Pillars":https://legends-of-the-three-pillars.obsidianportal.com/

This is the first OP Campaign I've seen with an offsite campaign blog! Very, very thought out, clearly. Has an excellent wiki, and a "History":https://legends-of-the-three-pillars.obsidianportal.com/wikis/history section which I love for its focus not on temporal periods, but on _sources_. Having quotes from many different "primary sources" for the world history is interesting and creative, and the fact that some of those sources collate other fictional letters, histories, etc. while others are organized like annals is refreshingly realistic and engages the brain in critically processing what usually is a bland narrative spiced up with exotic names (as I am guilty of). The addition of "Chronicles":https://legends-of-the-three-pillars.obsidianportal.com/wikis/chronicles in addition to Journey Logs and the History background is an amazing expansion and truly shows off a well-thought out, fully fleshed out world.

Last updated at the end of last year, and worthy of more attention!

I would like to add one to this list of overlooked campaigns.

"Scion: Taking it to the Titans":https://scion-taking-it-to-the-titans.obsidianportal.com/

This campaign was one I discovered (or rather, they discovered me!) when I was getting into Scion a few years back. I was lazily building a character sheet template that they later took and ran with in ways far beyond what I imagined. The Storyteller, "MorganWilliams":https://www.obsidianportal.com/profile/MorganWilliams, was one of the first people I spoke with on this site outside of my gaming group of the time. All of the players are wonderful writers, and all host amazing journals. I love what they have done with the page post-Reforge, as well.

    "A troubled economy":https://a-troubled-economy.obsidianportal.com/

Nice use of images that tie in together a sense of style. And weather effects tables!

    Good reading "Adventure Log":https://a-troubled-economy.obsidianportal.com/adventure-log/the-long-road-travelled

    Entire site has potential!

Thanks for doing this Meagoinc (& putting my campaign on the list!). There's some really good stuff in there, I'm feeling inspired. Also, saethone, that video intro on the "Zeroed" page is fantastic, hearing that music made me happy.

I recommend checking out my profile - i have like 50 some odd campaigns favorited, all of them have something that makes them really cool. Sadly some of them are old and no longer played, but you can still get some great ideas from them.

also, thanks cyclopean! I had a great time making it listening to that song over and over lol

@Basileus: _Great_ find! And good searching, getting down to the 6-fan range! Some parts of Astra still need to be filled out/tweaked a bit more... but _terrific_ use of CSS, good consistent theme, good visuals throughout... this will definitely deserve a CotM, and definitely deserves to be on the front page. I'll add myself to the list of recent fans.

@Meagoinc: Thanks for starting this thread! Since there's no good way to sort campaigns right now, at least we as a community can sort them by hand-picking! :P

Hello and thank you for linking Daern :)
Though the planets and cosmology and such play a big role, it doesn't actually take place in outer space. It is more of a fantasy world with magic, psionics, and terrible fates in store for our heroes.
I've finished updating the terminology of the adventure logs: https://daern.obsidianportal.com/adventure-log
Hopefully I can find the time between game preparation and real life obligations to finish the whole wiki update.
Thanks again for linking my campaign! Glad you like it so far.

@Basileus: Wow, thanks! I just noticed that new fans began to pop out for my campaign page and wondered the source. Found it to be here :)

@TolsimirWolfblood: Thanks! I actually have an idea to use it as an interactive part of the game. The animated gif is also a link, so I can update it while we game and change the monitor text gif and the link. I might change the text to say that the players have a new message and link it to a message page.

@Thorvald: That's high praise, thank you! The page is far away from finished and that's one of the reasons I have kept it so low profile. Was about to introduce it on the forum later when more finished. And I can hardly take all the credit for the CSS. A lot of it has been copied from the forum pages and tweaked to suit my needs.

We're probably going to start gaming this campaign later this year. At the moment I'm more occupied with playing *Aenor's* magnificent "Ferdiad Cycle":https://campaign-52444.obsidianportal.com/ , for which I also write the adventure logs.

I have delved fairly DEEPLY into DAERN and love its "pseudo-scientific" essence. Even though a EUROPA like moon would be mainly WATER BASED, GM KalinoAltes has just gone ahead and created a believable LAND concept within the basic parameters of a planet capable of sustaining life. Not only that, but such excellent WIKI organisation, such detailed description of everything within the world and the expansion of one of my favourite races, the Illithids, makes this a site most gratefully found and FAVORITED!

Many thanks to meagoinc for starting this thread. YA WEE GENIUS, YOU!
