I've noticed that some GMs are pre-making the PCs. This seems reasonable, but I did not expect it when I coded up the site. A character (in the system) can only be a PC (in the system) if it's owned by a user who is a player in a campaign.

I am working on a way to allow people to "gift" characters away to someone else, thereby allowing a GM to create a PC and then give it to a player. This may take a little time, though, so please be patient.

Until then, let your players make their PCs.

You mentioned that you were okay with borrowing stuff/ideas from other sites so here's one that might help. This is a site where people store characters that players can give permissions to other people to edit. Perhaps something like this could be partnered or adapted for use here?

We have an underlying permissions scheme for the website, hence the blogs and wikis editable by all members of the campaign. I'm trying to figure out how to adapt it to the characters, since it's obviously needed, both for PCs and NPCs.

The rpgwebprofiler you posted is pretty neat. I like how it can do the formatting for the sheets as well. Best of all, it looks like it's an open-source application. If I get a chance I will download the code and see if I can figure out how they handle the formatting and such.

    Thanks for the tip.
