HOT OFF THE PRESS!!! Rise of the Dead for CotM

I would like to nominate Kettle’s "Rise of the Dead":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/rise-of-the-dead for May's Campaign of the Month!

It’s not often you get a high fantasy veteran like “Old Twigs” nominating a zombie slasher but I’m sure all will agree that Kettle’s site is magnificent, sporting one of the best new OP Videos, a great WIKI with good navigation; and I can guarantee there are some really wicked zombie ideas ahead for those in the game!

Here here! I'm not at all a zombie fan, but this campaign is just great. The videos are fantastic and the site is just plain fun to look through.
Rise of the Dead gets my nomination as well.

I am torn on this - Kettle you defintely have a great and COTM worthy campaign, in fact I am a fan and would normally add my voice in support of this nomination but In recent months I having been throwing my support behind Davidnic and madartiste's most excellent campaign "The Rise of Asmodeus":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/greyhawk-636-cy-the-rise-of-asmodeus and as a famous Dwarf once said "My mind does not change with the rising and setting of a few suns” and so with that; I must once again proffer this excellent Campaign for COTM

    Hope you understand.

    Leonidas,

I completely understand. "The Rise of Asmodeus":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/greyhawk-636-cy-the-rise-of-asmodeus is an awesome campaign and definitely deserves COTM. Davidnic, Madartiste and crew have an amazing wiki.

Hey All, Thanks for all the votes of confidence. Even if we dont win this nomination will be greatly appreciated by all of us, especially Kettle. GMs rarely get enough thanks for all the hard work they put in, so something like this is huge. Everyone keep up the good work and thanks Obsidian Portal for being a great resource/tool/awesomeness

Leonidas and Kettle, I need a new phrase for thank you, I think, to express how I feel. :) As I said before, being supported by such talented people is even better than actually winning. And much gratitude to Killervp for being just an all around awesome person with supporting other campaigns!

    Hello everyone,

I just wanted to let people know that while I am a little behind on the adventure logs, I have just posted "Session 8":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/rise-of-the-dead/adventure-log/session-8 This session forced the character to decide if they were going to give up "Tabitha":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/rise-of-the-dead/characters/tabitha-ross in exchange for a group of hostages. It was a fun session.

I also wanted to thank my players for their awesome contributions. My players write a personal journal entry after each session to show their character's reaction to the events in the story. I have linked the journals from Session 8, below. Check them out and let us know what you guys think.

    "Tabitha Ross' Journal entry":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/rise-of-the-dead/wikis/tabitha-journal-6#session-8
    "Howard Barclay's Journal entry":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/rise-of-the-dead/wikis/howard-journal-9
    "Grim Walker's Journal entry":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/rise-of-the-dead/wikis/grim-journal-9
    "Dr. Rivet's Journal Entry":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/rise-of-the-dead/wikis/dr-rivet-journal-10/

I hope you all enjoy these. We are having a lot of fun with this game.

As always, thanks to this great community.

Thanks for the update. Many dilemmas, plenty of action, constant zombie threat. Note to fellow OPiates: To get an idea of the darkness, view this line detailing how one of the npc allies is dealt with:
"Grim quietly walked over to where Troy was tied down and pushed his spear through Troy’s head, ending his undead misery."
The various character logs of Tabitha Ross, Howard Barclay, Dr Rivet and Grim Walker all have their own styles. My favourite is Dr Rivet's.

I once again show my support for May's CotM nomination.

Thanks Twiggy. I will second Kettle's comment, I hope you all enjoy the various content we add =D.

Kettle by far does the lions share of the work but we all try to add some great stuff on the wiki. "Rivet's":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/rise-of-the-dead/wikis/dr-rivet-journal journals not only have great content but look amazing and I love "Tabitha's":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/rise-of-the-dead/wikis/tabitha-journal as well. Both very fun to look at and full of good stuff. "Kevin Cole's":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/rise-of-the-dead/wikis/kevin-journals "Grim Walker's":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/rise-of-the-dead/wikis/grim-journal-1 and mine, "Howard Barclay's":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/rise-of-the-dead/wikis/howard-journal all do our own things in blocks of text and are a little more boring to look at but are fun to read. I am tempted to do something other than just a block of text, but my creativity lies more with text than with coding or art.

Kettle hasn't posted Adventure Journal 9 yet, but for those of you reading it, its full of action and it changes things considerably. I cant wait for our next game session its going to be completely different.

In any case thanks for the interest and enjoy your gaming everyone =D

Thanks for your kind words all. Kettle has been doing something interesting with our Forums. Hes been away on work for a week or so, so hes using the Forums to create little roleplaying scenarios. Not exactly what I am used to but interesting and a few of the players have really run with that ball. Its nice to see a GM thats so excited about a game that he wants to keep running it even when hes away. Check it out "Here":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/rise-of-the-dead/forum I think this dates me a little but I feel like a bit of a fuddy duddy with this format. Mine is barely started but Tabitha, Dr Rivet and Kevin Cole's scenes are way more detailed. Its very cool to be able to play a few scenes during what is essentially an in game and a real life break in the game. Woo for OP and all the various stuff that it lets us do. Thanks

Hmm. That's actually a fun idea for times when the group can't get together. Or even if you're finding that the party is focusing too much on fighting or not getting to do as much roleplaying as one might like. That's pretty cool. :)

My work often sends me away on business at least once a year. We have all been enjoying the game and I did not want the momentum to be lost. I asked each player to post an "Interlude":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/rise-of-the-dead/wikis/interludes per the rules I posted on the site. I then decided to run a scene with each player.

I am a little behind on the adventure logs, but we have completed Chapter 1 of the story. We were able to completed session 10 before I left and the characters were finally able to escape the cruise ship of death, as one player put it.

My original Idea was to have time pass between chapter 1 and chapter 2, but with me leaving for a few weeks, I felt it would be a great opportunity to role play out the time at sea. So far these "mini-scenes" have been really good at helping to flesh out not only the player characters, but some of the NPCs that received less "Screen time" during the previous sessions. Anyways, I am glad people like the idea.

Almost caught up with my adventure logs. "Session 9":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/rise-of-the-dead/adventure-log/session-9 now posted.

And of course here are my player's journals. I hope you all enjoy them.

Just a quick update. "Session 11":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/rise-of-the-dead/adventure-log/session-11 adventure log is now up. This was an interesting session. It started out as a typical session, but the players surprised me at the end. The repercussions of their actions was felt in Session 12, which I'm still writing and I am sure they will continue to struggle with their choices for sessions to come. Great stuff, I think. I love it when my players surprise me. It's why I GM.

Some good moral dilemmas building up amongst the players there. Sounds like a lot of heartfelt confusion and confoundment, which I suppose is all part and parcel of the horrific situation they are all in.
