Do Something!

I've been going through the Map looking for campaigns, and while I have found a few that are kept up to date, I've found as many that are just place holders with no reason given to join the group. I have a request for you, update! Add something to your site, even if it's just stray bits of news. Start rumors, describe NPCs, Establish campaign locations. Do something.

And if you're looking for players, enable to "join campaign" button (or what ever it's called) so people will know to ask.

Now I'm off to update The Dark Kings Return.

You do realize that alot of the campaigns here are no longer active, right? Some people start an OP site and cannot keep up with maintaining it, others decide it is not for the, and the majority, have finished their campaign.

One of the reasons I made mine is to keep a record of my campaign, to look back on at a future date. Maybe even revive and reuse, but, after 20+ years of a weekly campaign, I relaised I wish I had an archive of plenty of those past campaigns.

It also heloped me organize things for my current campaign, but thats not the point :)

OP had a function on the main page back when I joined. This function allowed you to see who, most recently updated their site. In addition the main page showed you a few random campaigns and the Campaign of the Month. The loss of these functions has largely made me stop using OP except for my personal campaigns and to check in on a couple of campaigns I like.

When those old functions were in place, I would spend hours, every week, purusing other people's campaigns. Now it all seems pointless. I have to search, waste time, and get frustrated, if I desire to find an active campaign that actually updates.

I am one of OP's biggest fans but since the loss of those few options on the main page, I tend to spend more time looking at other things than OP.

I miss the Recently Updated on the main OP page as well. However, it's only two clicks away.... I spend an hour or two a week browsing updated campaigns.

I can see where trying to find a game to play nearby frustrating when their sites haven't been updated for months or years. I've found in my browsing that many folks come to OP and create an initial campaign and then leave as they decide that it's not for them. I did this myself with another RPG content management site until I found OP and was like "ZOMGOPISTOTSAWESOMESAUCE!" I also suspect life gets in the way of many folks updating their sites. Course that could also mean they are still playing, just that no one is updating their site currently.

I'm not disagreeing with you Alan, just trying to explain what I think happens.

    I agree with NinjaFlashX.

I read this thread about sorting by updated beng gone and I was like ....whaaaa?

I went to check because I knew I had just done it last week, to browse for updated FATE games.

    It still works.

The old updates on the main page gave the name of the page updated withing the campaign. This often would attract me to take a peak at campaigns I might not have looked at otherwise. I do use the recently updated function but it isn't as attractive an option.
