The Quest - AKA A bit of shameless self promotion

Hi all. A while ago I mentioned in another post which featured a "map of Palladium":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/a-god-rebuilt/wikis/maps I did for Killervp that I was working on another big map project in the near future. Well things are far enough along in production that I can now say a bit more about that project. I've been commissioned to do a couple of maps for an upcoming strategy and mystery MMO video game called "The Quest - Rise of Emodo":http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/riseofemodo/the-quest-rise-of-emodo-breathe-life-into-a-new-wo. I'm one of two cartographers working on maps for this project, the other being the enormously talented Jonathon Roberts (whose most recent work includes some amazing "atlas maps of the Lands of Ice and Fire":http://www.amazon.com/Lands-Ice-Fire-Game-Thrones/dp/0345538544/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1367720974&sr=1-1&keywords=game+of+thrones+atlas).

Anyway the reason I'm bringing this up in this forum is that this game is actually being crowd source funded through Kickstarter at the moment and I wanted to put a plug in for it here. We are only two days into the launch and the project has already exceeded the halfway mark for the funding goal (though of course there are some nice stretch rewards if we exceed our goal). I won't waist too much more time talking about the project here, but if you are interested, please come check it out and see if this might be something you are interested in being a part of.

Cheers,
-Arsheesh

How much of your stuff is in the game? How much in the book?

At this point two of my maps for sure will be, and possibly a third (Jonathon and I will each be doing a world map and one will feature in promotional material and the other will feature in the book). The two maps I am doing are macro-scale sci-fi maps of the moon which serves as the primary setting of the game, and then also one of the solar system. Jonathon will be doing maps of the primary city and regional lands wherein the bulk of the game takes place.

That's awesome Sheesh! Do you have links to any examples, or are they kind of hush hush for now? Glad to see you getting some recognition, you were part of the inspiration for me to get working on my own maps.

Thanks killer, I definitely like Kera 2 better, btw. And that's pretty awesome that you got him to make a map for your campaign, I never saw that :).

I was very lucky- He is amazing to work with- very understanding and patient. The details are amazing- check out the volcanoes in the Mt Nimro region on the "map":http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/668/palladiumupload.jpg

Damn, that's pretty slick! I never could get my realistic maps to look as good as his :). That's why I stuck to my hand-drawn style maps.

Thanks so much for the support guys (and thanks Killer for backing the project). Seems like people are unanimously for the second concept map, so I'm currently working on it. Hope to have one of the two maps done in the next two weeks.

@Gaaran, I've always really liked your hand-drawn style work.

For what it's worth, I also prefer Kera 2.
