Why Good Things Must Come to an End

I want to say first and foremost, that it has been an incredible joy to run my campaign Star Wars: Dawn of Darkness with the help of the Obsidian Portal community. This past August my campaign celebrated it's third anniversary, which is by no means the longest running campaign on this site, but a mark I am none the less proud of, and I am very grateful for the kind words, support and help that has been offered over those three years into crafting an amazing adventure (especially you Arsheesh! I can't thank you enough my friend:) ).

Yet this campaign was never meant to go on forever, for one I always feared that it would meet the fate of so many games that went on well past their logical conclusions, lumbering forward as players lost interest, dropping out one by one or until collectively the game was simply abandoned. This was a fate I was determined to avoid for Dawn of Darkness. Also, from it's very inception this campaign had a beginning, a middle, and a definite end, and end which my player party is now approaching at light speed!

Thus beginning last month we have entered the fourth and final act of my campaign, where the story will be concluded either later this year or early next. I will be sad to see this campaign end, but at the same time I am so grateful that it has come this far. I don't really know what the future holds, or if I will ever run another game again down the road. I can tell you this however, being able to record the adventures of my player in session by session detail with statistics, back story's and every little element that makes a game come to life has made GM'ing a campaign more fun than I ever could have imagined.

So thank you Obsidian Portal and your incredible community, the campaign that Dawn of Darkness is today could not have been without your help. I hope to deliver a conclusion fitting of the amazing players, GM's and fans of roll-playing that are a part of this site.

I for one will be sad to see this campaign go- the custom artwork alone is worth a favorite, much less the always entertaining logs.
Please hit us here when you start up a new campaign- "Dawn of Darkness":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/star-wars-dawn-of-darkness will be missed!

Indeed I shall miss it too, but it won't quite be gone for good. Not only am I planning on making some improvements to the wiki pages on the campaign site after the game wraps up, but I've even talked to one of my players about putting together a Saga Edition campaign guide PDF with all the important locations, NPC's and relevant statistics for anyone who down the road might want to run their own "Dawn of Darkness" campaign.

It would be quite an undertaking, at least two or three years in the making I'd say, but it would be quite do-able I think. Heck, once we're done we might even publish a version of the guide in the old West End d6 system as well as Fantasy Flight's new Star Wars RPG system.

Lastly Killervp I have a question for you, how do you write the code so that a link is embedded in a word in posts here in the OP forum like you did with Dawn of Darkness? It's something I keep forgetting how to do :)

Make sure you have your comments format as textile, put full quotes around the name, followed by a colon, then the link. No space between colon & link.

    Just trying to help out.

It sucks to see another great campaign vanish from OP. I shall wait with anticipation for the next one, whenever that may come.
