Table help - cell padding and spacing

I'm working on a table layout to mimic Facebook's badges for the characters in my game and am having trouble with formatting... how do I reduce the cell padding and spacing? I've tried creating an HTML table and the attributes for this don't seem to work. I guess, there is only limited HTML support in textile. Is there a way to accomplish this with textile markup?

This is an example of what I use for pics- It should work for the table.

Thanks, I appreciate the response. The padding style would have to be applied across all of the tags in the table if I used that. That's why I was wondering about the cellpadding and cellspacing attributes.

I decided to go away from a table after second thought. I went with and ... they are much easier to apply CSS to. If I knew how to post HTML to the forum, I'd put a sample of what I'm working on here for feedback.
