With the crowning of the well deserved "Dresden Files Dallas":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/dfd for December, I have done some searching around and I keep coming back to "Shimring":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/shimring It is the depth that gets me each time, the Whispering of the Gods, etc....
I have stolen from this campaign, and I hope that others check it out to see why!

Yup, Shimring is a great long-standing campaign with an ambitious story arc. Good suggestion Killer!

I too think this is one that deserves the honor. Great story, fantastic visuals, and overall one of the better sites on OP.

Agreed! The Shimring campaign has an epic story arc which is well supported by Twiggyleaf's extensive background notes and visuals - a fun (and dangerous!) campaign to play :-)

LOL! mchappory. When I read your comment I wondered at how "dangerous" Shimring has been and although I have avoided TPKs, I do note from the character history that quite a few characters have "been through the mills" so far. Not all of these have died, but I will admit Shimring IS dangerous! (But, I'm told by my players that's how they like it). Thanks for all the support and particularly KillerVP for the nomination.

Without danger there is no romance to it.

They should see the "roll every die in thirty feet for damage" entry on my artifact charts, MUAHAHAHAHAHAAHAA!

I'm sorry for bumping this old thread, but for whatever it is worth, I feel that Shimring is deeply deserving of the recognition and respect of the entire Obsidian Portal community. I have long been a fan of Shimring, and indeed of every contribution Twiggyleaf has made both on his campaign wiki and here in the forums. I count Twiggy as a magnificent example of what an Obsidian Portal DM should aspire to be, and I feel that Shimring amply reflects the caliber of its creator.

Once again, I dreaded coming back into the forums just to bump an old thread. I don't want my friends here to think I have forgotten them, and Twiggy was one of the good folks here that reached out to me in my absence, proving perhaps the old adage about hearts growing fonder. However, of all the reasons I could think of to make a return to the forums, endorsing Shimring feels like an extremely appropriate one. This campaign deserves your attention. if you haven't seen it, do so. If you have, write your content director and ask him to lend Shimring his attention.

    Thanks for your time.

The Shimring Questors have just completed their second Quest. A summary of what has happened in the Primordial Temple of Savandem, cojoined with Gossamer in the Demonweb, is presented here:

    "Completion of the Second Task":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/shimring/wikis/tale-of-the-task

(There will now be a break in activity until the third task is begun later in the year.)

Thanks again for all interest so far....

Very sad about the break- how long? Nicely done summary. I will steal the line about the will of the gods (again stealing from you)

I hate it when good campaigns take a break. I am always afraid they will never come back.

The break is not necessarily a bad thing. I had a break between the First and Second Tasks too. And it gives one a chance to adapt, tweak and improve things on the site that were conceived at the beginning before players got involved. In short, I also need time to do more preparation. Some of our group members left and we are in the process of recruiting new members, so my friend is running a campaign starting out at Level One for the meantime. Even without the personnel change, it was always my intention to take breaks between each Quest.

New "Progress Chart":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/shimring/wikis/concise-summary shows at a glance how far the Questors have come in the overall shape of Shimring.

    Thanks for the comments,
    twigs

The break in play allows more things to be added in Shimring. There is quite a bit of work to be done in the Third Section, Grneekle, taking place in Lantan in Faerun. Having only sketched out a brief resume of events and details way back at the beginning of the campaign, I am finding that there is still much preparatory work to be done. So although there is no movement on the "Adventure Log" front at the moment, I am certainly filling up on the "Wiki"

So, since the great "Guardians of the Frontier":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/guardians-of-the-frontier won COTM I am renewing my push for Twiggyleaf's great "Shimring":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/shimring campaign for COTM in August. It is starting back up this month, and is a really rich world, a detailed wiki, and overall a great site!
Not to mention he is great on helping folks out here in the forums!
So- Shimring for COTM- August 2012!!
