Greetings one and all!
I have two questions/informal poll to pose to everyone:
What is the most frivolous thing you've ever done for your wiki?
What is the most frivolous thing you've ever wanted to do for it?
For me, I've just hit new levels of frivolity due to something I'm working on - I want to get it out of my head before I forget it, so I've spent the last five hours working on the project. I love the concept, it's just a lot of VERY unnecessary work. For something that may not even be used.
So, what are your most frivolous moments?
If you indulge me, maybe I'll indulge you and help you bring them to fruition!
_Edit:_ I realize that the best way to demonstrate frivolity is to actually give you an example: Fortunately for me, I have one that I just finished! I present my completely modular "campaign calendar":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/the-dark-queen-of-the-west/wikis/december-2010
This is designed to display when various events take place during the realtime campaign I'm running - we don't have very many events, but when I do something, I prefer it to be properly done, despite the fact that I don't believe I'll ever really go back into the past for the campaign. I realize there's not too much to look at, but that's mostly what makes it frivolous :)
Comments
It's pretty frivolous, but I've always enjoyed the idea of keeping score of kills.
Now for desire, it would love to create a character image that shows all the player characters in a night club or bar (much like the old savage sword of conan images with slaves and gambling) to set as the theme image for the campaign. Probably wont happen but you never know.
Well, my players have said at times the whole site is frivolous, because there is so much there. However, as time passes it is used more and more often.
The most frivolous are the NPC's that may or may not ever be seen.... At least now I have learned to enter less info...

Just trying to help out.
As was discussed in the other thread, it may seem that our building of campaigns is akin to building sand castles on the beach, but if there's one thing I know about sand...
Apply enough heat, pressure and polish and you get glass, which glitters when viewed and is infinitely more durable than unconnected grains of sand.
(So sue me, I felt like waxing poetic :) )
Stephen, as they say in the parlance: "Challenge Accepted!":http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ytY75u8ZhTc/TR9eUq7BSkI/AAAAAAAACjI/DaMoSZnX72c/s1600/Challenge+Accepted.jpg
If you'd like, PM me some details/hi res scans of your PCs and a potential location or locations you want them to be in. I'm somewhat decent with image manipulation, so this could be a fun little job for me.
Spent a good few hours finding and editing appropriate pictures as well as tweaking the code. I guess that's as frivolous as it gets.
How did I do?
Absolutely amazing. I hope that you didnt manually edit all of those pictures - I think you could have gotten away with a border image overlaid over each of them in HTML. Nevertheless, I think that's absolutely smashing. You have some lucky players to be able to witness the carnage they wrought that way!
_Edit_: Also, for some reason, Varth's hair reminds me of "this guy":http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w151/Kah-Hilzin-Ec/Freakazoid-Whyredraw.png
I'm sure there's a far more economic way to achieve the effects that I was going for, but since I was re-sizing and cropping all the pictures anyway, I figured adding the scratched borders manually wouldn't take that much time.
Varth's character was a bit of a bully, right up until the dragonborn paladin of Kord kicked him in the gonads and told him to behave, then his behavior became a little more like that of Freakazoid, in as much as he was willing to do anything to put distance between himself and the party.
...always good to have a dragonborn paladin around to keep people in line.
Playing Torment helped set the mood a bit as well.
As it turned out I really didn't need to prep as much as the characters only stopped in the damn place for an hour or so.
Oh well...

Campaign of the Month Febuary 2013
...An excellent idea!
A restaurant, called "CYOA" - you get in via reservation - you are seated and handed a menu. On the menu, there are a bunch of other menus. So after a wait, you have to order a menu from the menu. Your menu is taken away. The menu is then delivered. On the menu, there are a bunch of other menus. Are they the same as the ones you previously looked at? Do you risk trying the same menu twice? Do you pick another menu, blindly, hoping that there will be food listed in that one?
To try the same menu again, order menu 1.
To order a new menu, order menu 2.

I was terrible at CYOAs - I kept skipping ahead. I am anxiously awaiting Saturday (and not just because it's the weekend, but I'm intreigued by the image challenge)
