I'll admit I didn't browse through every thread but I didn't see one, so here goes:
Essentially, just hope for this to be a sort-of "member's only" club for all of us GM's out there; somewhere to discuss our encounters, get advice, get to know each other, etc. I'll start.
I'm Josh, and I'm about to start running a new campaign using D&D 3.5e. I've done a bit of GM'ing in past campaigns, same game, but they always seem to fall apart due to other obligations. I'm looking for this new one to be more in-depth than campaigns I've run before, with more player involvement and roleplaying. Still planning it all out, though, trying to come up with interesting encounter ideas.

    Welcome, you're in the right place. These forums are mostly used by the GMs of OP games (there are some players lurking about too) and that's exactly what we try to accomplish here :). I'm just the first, but I'm sure the welcome wagon will be here soon!

    Welcome to the Portal Raithfyre. Sorry to here that you've had trouble establishing a long-term campaign. In my experience this can be one of the more difficult but rewarding feats a group can achieve. I myself have been involved with a group of player for the last 9 months, and in that time, I've either played in, or DM'd 5 campaigns that have come to an end as a result of either players having other commitments or not being able to work well together or whatever. So I feel where you are coming from.

    Yeah, life is hard (and takes too much time). But we should count ourselves lucky that we get to have this pastime at all, right?

    I too have had troubles of keeping a group together for a good amount of time myself. Right now, I am fortunate enough to have a group of over a year now and am pleased with it.

    I am a creative and helpful person. I would love to assist you in anything I can. Please feel free to bounce your ideas off of me and I will give you the most helpful advice and resources that I can!

    Hi! I totally empathise with your desire to discuss DM to DM and this forum is probably a good place for that. There are alot of really helpful members, as I'm sure you have seen.
    I particularly like igornappovich's input and will spend some time looking into his suggested threads after this.
    I hope the new game you are starting doesn't "fall apart" like the others. My suggestion is that maybe you should design a campaign that will be short but in a world that can be extended. (e.g. Planescape is a great place to start any adventure that you can then build onto by hopping through portals to other planes/parts of the universe).
