Stix_Remix
Hi everyone, just wanted to post a welcome message and introduce myself.
I started playing D&D around the 2000's, and only recently found a new group to game with (now playing 4th). I signed up for OP a year ago, but have only started using it for a campaign that I'm starting up with some (since graduated) college friends. All three of my players are new, so hopefully this website will be a good resource for the lot of us. Our campaign link is http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/cloths-of-heaven . Kinda bare right now, but I'm adding stuff slowly (and some of it is GM only till we run our first session this weekend) and I've already begun using some helpful templates/advice posted in these forums.
I'm also gonna take advantage of the wiki abilities and compile my yet-to-be-finished modern, post-apocalypse campaign setting "The World of Advent:" where Magic is a mineral resource that is mined and inscribed upon.

Any feedback is welcome, and it's a pleasure being part of this community.

Vilkommen, Stix Remix! We can't see your campaign because it is set to private, but it doesn't look like you have gotten much up there yet. If you need any help or advice, you've come to the right place!

So far my site is pretty bare (except for some minor decorations). I just finished the map late last night, and it's uploaded to the servers. My trusty tools for this task were Photoshop for the coloring/brushes and Google Maps for the continent design/shape.

EDIT: Oh, and nice map, Stix! :P
Here's a tip from the Wizards D&D forums that helped me: Find a geographic body from Google Maps and just change it's orientation/sizing or merge two together. Then you can recolor and add stuff likes mountains and trees if you want (I just scoured the web for free downloads of Photoshop cartography brushes for trees, mountains, rivers, and roads).
My map is actually the Isle of Skye (Scotland), rotated a bit over 90 degrees. I have very little drawing skills, and I figure what is more natural looking than a natural landmass? :)
