Java Library [Planning]

edited February 2011 in API Discussion
I'm pretty good with Java programming, and would be willing to write an API wrapper to open it up to general java apps, as well as to Android apps. If anyone is interested in helping, let me know, and I'll start a github project.

    I'll do it. :)
Andriod and Google App Engine support will be useful.

So this idea is dead? I can understand not wanting to get in over your head, but it really is a great idea...

Well, I'd like to know if Gralamin started working on it, but I'm willing to start from scratch if he hasn't.

Seems like "signpost":http://code.google.com/p/oauth-signpost/ would be a good place to start if doing something in Java, although there could be other OAuth Java libraries.

Looks like "Scribe":https://github.com/fernandezpablo85/scribe-java is also a highly respected Java OAuth implementation.

There's a list of "different OAuth libraries":http://oauth.net/code/ on the main OAuth website.

Wow. Both signpost and Scribe are much simpler than I'm used to from an OAuth library. Thanks for pointing them out :)

Without any response from Gralamin, I'm starting from scratch. I'll put up a github repository shortly.

Cool, can't wait to see it. Bonus points if it's Android friendly, as I'm sure there are many Android devs out there looking to get their hands dirty.

Is anyone still working on this? I've basically built a Java library that works with Android for the application I wrote (see other thread). I could clean up the code and document it better later this month and toss it up onto bit-bucket for others to view the code and use as they see fit.

    I started a github project today. https://github.com/dertroglodyt/ScribeOP
Still work in progress and I'm stuck at the create WikiPage at the moment.
Maybe someone can take a look at it...

Will work on the remaining read only methods meanwhile.

    Hello,

I'm the maintainer of the Ruby wrapper for the OP API.I haven't got much interest in digging into Java right now, but here is a link to a discussion the maintainer of the .Net library and I had regarding saving wiki pages and characters. Maybe it will offer some guidance for you.

I've also seen this http://forums.obsidianportal.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=2479&page=1#Item_1 when trying to save a wiki page, but don't have a solution yet.
