Character linking issue when using quotation marks

I first noticed this in the forums, but it seems to be a site-wide issue.

When adding a character link, if there are unclosed quotation marks in the text, the link is translated as part of the site's code:

As the group stood within the effect of their Staff of non-detection, ”/characters/sergor-ironhelm" class=“wiki-content-link”>Sergor cast nondetection so it could move with them, and took a standing nap.

After some more discussion, Oliver approached the other adventurer group.

Raoden moved over to a nearby corridor, set down a lantern to look discarded, and started casting Ramazaith’s scroll of Symbol of Death.

Compared to when not using the quotation marks:

As the group stood within the effect of their Staff of non-detection, Sergor cast nondetection so it could move with them, and took a standing nap.

After some more discussion, Oliver approached the other adventurer group.

Raoden moved over to a nearby corridor, set down a lantern to look discarded, and started casting Ramazaith’s scroll of Symbol of Death.

This happened to us often when using the forums for online roleplaying between sessions. Took us a while to realize why this happens.

Seems to be that the character linking [[: | ]] is translated to something with quotation marks in the code, and then the site mistakes the first quotation marks as part of the site's code instead of part of the text.
