Can you create character sub list?

My NPCs and and characters are all listed together under the character sidebar. Is there a way for to separate character list that are separate like NPCs, or contacts, villainous NPC's. Right now I have one list and the header says NPCs and I''m thought for sure my PCs would maybe be separated some how and they assigned. It reaaly isn't that big of deal but I want to make sure I haven't missed something. I have some GM only character that I reveal as need by unchecking the box. Thanks for any help! I am loving the utility of Obsidian Portal!

    Yes, this can absolutely be done.

    PCs and NPCs, by default, are displayed on the same Characters page but under different headings, with PCs listed first. If that's what you want and that's not what you are seeing, the characters that should be in the PCs list likely aren't marked as Player Characters in the edit screen as shown below:

    Other than the default behavior listed above, for Ascendant Members there is also quite a bit of personalization available. In the "Settings" > "Advanced" screen there is an field in between the Custom Navigation code box and the Custom Items Layout code box is one labeled Custom Characters Layout, which allows you to use code to define your own groups. Then, when a character is given whatever tag that you specify in the code it shows up in that group.

    Example Time!

    The code below specifies five subgroups: "Our Players", "Cycle Three", "Cycle Two", "Cycle One", and "The Primordials". Characters are then assigned to these groups with the given tags in the code. If I wanted a character to be in the "Cycle Two" group, I would tag the character with cycle2.

    <div class="secondary-heading">

      Our Players

    </div>

    <div class="content-list" data-filter=".pc">

      <ul class="large-block-grid-2 small-block-grid-1"></ul>

    </div>

    <div class="secondary-heading">

      Cycle Three

    </div>

    <div class="content-list" data-filter=".tag-cycle3">

      <ul class="large-block-grid-2 small-block-grid-1"></ul>

    </div>

    <div class="secondary-heading">

      Cycle Two

    </div>

    <div class="content-list" data-filter=".tag-cycle2">

      <ul class="large-block-grid-2 small-block-grid-1"></ul>

    </div>

    <div class="secondary-heading">

      Cycle One

    </div>

    <div class="content-list" data-filter=".tag-cycle1">

      <ul class="large-block-grid-2 small-block-grid-1"></ul>

    </div>

    <div class="secondary-heading">

      The Primordials

    </div>

    <div class="content-list" data-filter=".tag-protodeity">

      <ul class="large-block-grid-2 small-block-grid-1"></ul>

    </div>

    Worth noting as well, characters can belong to multiple groups if they have the requisite tags, and that tags don't like spaces (hence "cycle2" instead of "cycle two").

    Throw some CSS in and you can do some rather strange stuff, as seen here: https://streamofkairos.obsidianportal.com/characters
