How would the other 4 Pcs react to the 5th Pc lying about his heritage to them for almost 12 years?

I've had a idea for A Bit of 317 year old lore for A Mates ADAD Campaign, what I want to know is how would the other 4 Pcs react to the 5th Pc having lied about his heritage to them for almost 12 years?

Basically The younger Fighter has always appeared to and has always claimed that he comes from A Family of Commoners, very wealthy yes but still commoners

Despite that he has twice turned down A Decent Sized Barony and its been 28 months since he reached 9th level AND had the cash to fund a domain but he hasn't even looked into it

Even stranger is that wherever the group goes theirs always a group of 6 Fighters, 4 Clerics, 3 Cavaliers, 1 Magic User, 1 Illusionist, 1 Thief, 1 Druid that even at the start was accompanied by 5 1HD Large Spiders, 1 5HD Owlbear, 1 3HD Dire Fox and 1 3HD Gigantic Bat, 1 Paladin and 1 Barbarian and The Leader whose A Gnome Fighter/Illusionist

Even at the start they were all 8th level and even at the start The Gnome that's their Leader was A 6th level Illusionist/5th level Fighter and no matter when or where The Pc go if possible they have always stayed within 300 meters and their always within 539 meters

Then A Royal Messenger demanding to speak with The Pcs and he's backed up by 1 Regiment of 7th level Fighters, 2 Companies each of 6th level Magic Users, 6th level Rangers and 7th level Clerics,  half a company of 5th level Paladins and a platoon of 4th level Barbarians(yes you read that right but what do you expect?, after all they are bringing the new king home to take the throne) and he, or she, drops a bombshell, among The Pcs is A King

The Fighter that has always claimed that he comes from A Family of Commoners, very wealthy yes but still commoners is actually the former kings oldest child and he's now the new king, I hope the shock doesn't cause A Pc to have a heart attack

The Fighter, whose now A King, use's his power as the new king to be given time to explain things to the other 4 Pcs, normally he royal guards don't legally have a choice but the new kings nice enough enough to give them a choice but their too loyal to say no, so they agree to  give him all the time he needs and considering the force that if needed will back up the new king The other 4 Pcs would be insane to not listen

Need I point out if A Fighter that appears to and has always claimed that he comes from A Family of Commoners, very wealthy yes but still commoners, is legally allowed to boss around, even though he's clearly choosing not to, A Small Army of very Elite Royal Guardsmen doesn't convince The other 4 Pcs that he's A King then nothing will?

The story that he tells, which is 100% true, is that yes he's A King and yes he has lied about his heritage to them for almost 12 years but he has a good, in his opinion, reason

The good, in his opinion, reason is that because of how young both he and his father were at the time he knew he wouldn't be king for at least another 8 years, he was already bored out of his mind and he craved thrills, fun, danger and excitements

So he decided to get thrills, fun, danger and excitements he craved by disguising himself as A Fighter that appears to be from A Family of Commoners, very wealthy yes but still commoners, taking a decent sized group of trusted underlings, the group mentioned earlier, leaving his homeland and traveling around being A Adventurer

I could see a couple different response possibilities ...

If the PCs originally went off to be adventurers to prove they could make it on their own, and now they find out that they have been getting support from the king's nearby bodyguards, then they might feel cheated or like their accomplishments are lessened now.

Or if the PCs have been in any tight scrapes where something they cared about was lost or killed, they might feel betrayed that the king had the resources to stop that from happening, but didn't ... even though they have risked their lives for him so many times in the past.

That's all that comes to mind at the moment.
