Case-Sensitive Internal Links

Is there a reason why internal links are case-sensitive (using Textile), with no alternative? For example, if I want to link to the same page each time, titled "Goblin" (note capital "G"), I must:

• At the beginning of a sentence, use the expected

[[Goblin]]

• But if within a sentence, in order to show with a lower case "g" I would have to manually type out

[[Goblin |goblin]]

• instead of simply typing

[[goblin]]

• and having the backend treat it as the same link as the first.

This feels incredibly forced and non-intuitive, especially since most any other wiki syntax system allows for this versatility.
