Stop unused navigation items from taking up space

Is there a way to stop some of the unused (hidden) navigation items from taking up space? E.g. in this campaign https://thepriceofimmortality.obsidianportal.com/ I am not using the calendar, maps and file sections end have disabled them as follows:

.calendar {visibility:hidden; }

#campaign-nav .calendar .nav-text{visibility:hidden;padding-left:5px;font-size:0px;}

.maps {visibility:hidden;}

#campaign-nav .maps .nav-text{visibility:hidden;padding-left:5px;font-size:0px;}

However they still show as an empty line. If I use display:none, I suddenly have llines overlapping.

Am I missing something here?
