Not sure I'm going to go for it, but will look at it myself. I'm not really a fan of level based game systems, much prefer skill based systems like Basic Role-Playing, GURPS, etc. I like the idea of characters improving every session rather than getting a sudden jump after X number of sessions. But that's just personal preference.
Level based games aren't too hard to change to a system where they don't have a large sudden jump. It is really just a matter of listing all increases a class gets over a level and then even that progression over the XP progression for a level. Sort of like what warhammer fantasy RPG does.
Did it once for a pathfinder game. If I remember correctly, it went something like this
Roll the HP for your next level immediately and record the result (let say 8 hp) record your skill points for next level (lets same 6 skill points), count out number of class abilities and feats you'd gain next level (lets say 3; class ability 1, class ability 2 and feat 1) add in increases to your BAB, and your Saves (lets save +1 to BAB, +1 to Fort and +1 Ref).
Sum them all together (8+6+3+1+1+1= 20) take your required xp to next level (2000 xp) and divide by # of increases (2000xp / 20 equals 100 xp). So for every 100xp the player choose one of the increases to improve his character by. With OP it would be very easy to keep track of those things.

I'm looking forward to it. Pulp or Retro Sci-Fi is kinda my jam.

Will be interesting to see, they've certainly done a pretty awesome job with Pathfinder.

Much better systems out there for Sci-Fi.
It is not really trying for sci-fi but sci-fantasy. From what i've read they are trying for what shadowrun did for cyberpunk.

I'm afraid I'm a bit of a stickler for ye olde archaic stuff....
