    An Epic Traveller Campaign by Montana

    At just a touch over 1,100 years old, the Third Imperium is a strong interstellar government encompassing 281 subsectors and nearly 11,000 worlds. As with all civilizations, all manner of statesman, generals, rebels, inventors, scientists, philosophers and poets are born and, using their natural gifts and talents, contribute to the advancement (or decline) of said civilization.

    The Third Imperium certainly has seen its share of such contributors. Spaceship3

    Since 341, the Imperial Academy of Science and Medicine (IASM) has educated the brightest minds in the Imperium and in 845, Dr. Arthur C. Clarke, founded the Imperial Science Union (ISU), an elite organization dedicated to research both inside and outside Imperial space. Since its founding, the ISU has obtained a fleet of over 100 starships and maintains laboratories on over 60 worlds in the Imperium. The ISU conducts all manner of activities ranging from medical and military research, interstellar travel and communications, alien research and contacts, robotics and psionics. Governments and corporations have for the past 150 years partnered with the ISU in all manner of projects, expeditions, and endeavors. These partnerships regularly provide opportunities for travellers to take employment in such roles as scientists, messengers, explorers, and security.

    Isu logo Dr. Clarke, a trained scientist, brilliant philosopher and passionate poet, developed three laws which formed the professional skepticism associated with all the ISU’s activities. An initial reading of Clarke’s laws may lead one to conclude he was a simpleton, more studied students find that Clarke’s laws have much deeper meanings than those first revealed with a cursory read.

    Clarke’s 1st Law
    When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong.

    Clarke’s 2nd Law
    Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

    Clarke’s 3rd Law:
    The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.

    Clarke’s 3rd Law forms the basis and starting point for Montana’s latest epic Traveller Campaign.

    Each of you has a storied and detailed past, which, through the course of this campaign, we will together flesh out and learn. As luck would have it, you all, for reasons only known to yourselves, have gathered on Tobia A444A55-F (the Tobia Sub-sector capital and ducal seat), lured initially by the ISU opportunities, to seek your fame and fortune in the Trojan Reaches.
