Back in the 90s when I ran a campaign website on Geocities, I mapped my graphic map to have clickable areas that lead to the appropriate webpage for further details. Is that possible on Obsidianportal, or is that beyond the capabilities of the site?

It isn't a built-in function though, if that's what you are looking for - you'd need to whip up the HTML yourself. Basically it should just be a matter of placing s over an image (or images) with hyperlinks.
I did it on GIMP. Each quadrant square leads to a different link. Once I made the first couple of squares on GIMP the code was pretty simple to copy.
i just tried this on my practice page, and I get the map to display, but there are no clickable links mapped to it...
what am i doing wrong? is there some CCS code to add to the advanced setting panel?
It is indeed possible to do this in the MAPS SECTION. I have done it on mine - see: https://mysteria.obsidianportal.com/maps/37228
Basically you choose a PIN to plonk onto the map - and within that you can create a link to one of your WIKIE pages.
I haven't tried linking it to pages OUTSIDE the WIKI though......
