GoneRampant
Hi, my name is GoneRampant. I'm interested in getting into RPGs, hence why I'm here.
I live in Ireland, which seems to be an uncommon location to be from judging by how when I search for campaigns, a lot were from the US.
Right now I have no experience in playing RPGs, so my quick question is this: Is it OK if I were to sit in on a campaign and learn how everything works?
If not, I understand completely, and I'm sorry. If it is, then consider me interested.

We play over Skype, but the timing would be murder for you- 1am start your time, until 8 or 9 am. Would be happy to let you sit in if you would like- there are, however, some great games in the Isles that would probably be a better fit. Feel free to PM me if you would like to though....

Just trying to help out.
Which bit of the country are you in? Belfast (NI, not Republic, I know) has a thriving scene, and I can put you in touch with a few folks in the north very easily - talk to Andy brown (or anyone else) at https://www.facebook.com/weegamers , or if its easier try the Queens (Belfast) Univeristy group ( http://www.dragonslayers.org.uk/ )
Dublin obviously; I dont know many folks there, but 'Gaelcon' and the IGA you could also get in touch with and / or attend ( http://www.gaelcon.com/iga/ )
And lets see what a about a bit further south... there used to be an active group / conference in Waterford, but i dont know if they are still running though.
hope that helps, dont hesitate to ask more questions, and let us know how you get on!
cheers
Nick
Of course I live in the one piece of the country that hasn't got an RPG scene. But thanks for trying.
Could you make it to Galway? there is Fan Sci there - https://www.facebook.com/FanSciNUIG - You may have better luck there, but it got to a be a good hours drive or more, and Im guessing public transport wouldnt do the trick either?
The other alternative is to look for English speaking online games in your time zone (more or less) and try that way. There is bound to be loads here on OP and other sites are available as they say.
cheers
Nick
Thanks for trying, though.
I have spoken to the good people at Wee-Gamers, and am told they have a very large following in the Republic, and Andy would be surprised if there weren't at least a few gamers near you (his words): So go to https://www.facebook.com/weegamers and post your "hello and any games/gamers near Castlerea" there and you may just a be pleasantly surprised!
best of luck, let us know how you get on
Cheers
Nick
