paragraphs and formatting weirdness

Can someone help me with my formatting issues? Whenever I make a post in my forum, I write it out with paragraphs and indents, but when I post it, it gets smooshed into a wall of text. When I go to edit it it magically appears in the right format, only to smoosh back together when I hot save. Everyone else in my group seems to be able to have paragraphs in their posts. It is freaking annoying.

I do most of my stuff in Chrome, but it happened in Firefox too.

Hi,

Your forum is not accessible to me (as I'm not part of your game).
I just tried a test post on my own game's forum (using Chrome Version 31.0.1650.63 m) and it respected single line breaks and double line breaks between paragraphs.

On the Settings Advanced page - are you using Textile (redcloth) 4 (recommended) or redcloth 3?

I am using 4. It actually happened when I posted my character bio too, but it doesn't seem to happen to anyone else. I also noticed that the buttons when I post don't work. For example, when I try to use italics, it just puts an underscore around the word I type.

It seems to be working fine in the forum too. So freaking weird.

Are you adding spaces (or tabs) to the front of the line of text?
So that the first line of a paragraph is indented?

If so, try writing your paragraphs so there's no initial indent.

Otherwise, I suggest you do the standard dance for dealing with website weirdness:
# Log out of Obsidian portal.
# Delete your browser's cache and any temporary files.
# Reboot your computer.
# Make sure your browser is up to date.
# Log back in to Obsidian portal.
# Try posting again.

This was the solution for me way back before the reforge (when the Obsidian Portal website seemed to be randomly switching between redcloth 3 and 4).

If the problem persists - open a ticket on the "http://help.obsidianportal.com/discussions/problems":http://help.obsidianportal.com/discussions/problems website. Then come back and post the link in this discussion so others experiencing the same problem can find your post and add their voice to it (or, hopefully, benefit from your solution).

That was it! I got rid of the indents and now it is all fine. No more Wall O Text. That is so weird. I usually write my stuff in excel and then transfer it over. Guess I'll take auto indents out of my word processing program. Thanks so much!
