Hello everyone!

Been away for a while so some of you may not know me, but I used to be quite active in the forums here some years ago. At some point I plan to return and "fix my site":http://forums.obsidianportal.com/comments.php?DiscussionID=3523&page=1#Item_1 which sadly has been adversely affected by the reforge. At the moment though I just wanted to let people know that I am starting a new wordpress blog on the topics of fantasy map creation and RPG game design.

I've been creating maps for several years now and have done some professional commissions and have authored several tutorials on the topic (you can check out my portfolio "here":http://arsphantasia.wordpress.com/portfolio/). I'll be re-posting these up at my blog and going more into depth about the process of creating fantasy world, regional and town maps using freely available software.

I'm also in the process of creating a sort of "rules light" version of the D&D 3.5e rules intended to foster a more fast paced, grim and gritty mode of game-play (think swords and sorcery). I'm nearly finished with the Players Handbook beta rules and will be hosting those at my site. I'll be throwing up information on this system and all sorts of content related to it in the weeks ahead.

If any of this sounds interesting to you, please come check out what I'm doing over at "ars phantasia":http://arsphantasia.wordpress.com/ and let me know what you think.

Cheers,
-Arsheesh (aka Tad Davis)

Thanks Twigs! Yup, still around. At some point in the near future I intend to get back to work on my OP site Age of Legends, but for now getting this blog up and running is on my priority list. I'll be adding content on a fairly regular basis.

    Cheers,

welcome back arsheesh. Age of Legends really inspired a huge part of the community here I think. It'll be great to have you back!

You're alive! Yay! Welcome back, and I will be sure to check out your mapping blog. I know you were rather new to it all back when we were getting involved in the cartographer's guild, but to see how far they've come... they're crazy good!

    Welcome back, friend!

@ Saethone, thanks! Glad to be back, and not forgotten. BTW, I only had a minute to check them out but you've got some very nice looking sites!

@ Gaaran, yup, still kicking. I'm hoping to update the blog on a regular basis. The blog is not only about map-making, but also about RPG design and theory. As I work out the quirks of my revised D20 system I'll be posting content related to various game mechanics. For instance, today's topic was all about the best way to determine and track initiative, and the difference it makes to game-play.
