New to D&D!

edited August 2012 in Player Lounge
So ever since I was a child I've always wanted to play Dungeons and Dragons. I guess I didn't know any dorky enough people unfortunately :(. So I played video games instead. It always seem so complicated to and it's not the easiest game to get into if you have no idea what you are doing. Last year a friend of mine purchased the red box for my birthday though i still felt a bit overwhelmed and didn't really have anyone to play with. However a few weeks ago at one of my friend's wedding, I ended up sitting in a table full of D&D players! I was very excited to meet them and after a few discussions we had made plans to start some D&D sessions.

We got together with my best friend and started a character creation. I must say as a first time experience it was awesome. Our DM was very knowledgeable and helpful and made the transition really good. Having some basic knowledge from playing video games with the genre really helped me a lot. I ended up making a Shoal Halfing lvl 1 bard , level 3 cleric. I'm excited to start playing soon. Still need to work on his storyline I am eager to go out on the adventure with friends and I can already tell it's going to be a lot of fun! hopefully i don't die too quickly.

Welcome aboard. I still remember my earliest games with much fondness and envy your getting to learn from an experienced player. When me and my best friends made the plunge we had no guidance and had to feel our way through things. I think most of the earliest adventures were nothing more than fight after fight and more treasure than monty haul.
