Hey everyone just wanted to check in and say Hello. I just started to get back into RPing after being a long time D+D player. I quit about 10 years ago as life got in the way. Recently by brother-in-law ran a "Reunion Game" with a bunch of people we used to game with, and I caught the bug all over again. That was about a month ago and if you take a look at our campaign at "Sanctuary Saga":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/sanctuary-saga you'll see that I've been quite busy.

I'm working on getting my 13 y/o Daughter and 12 y/o niece into RPing along with 2 other new players and my venerable D+D compadre, my Brother in Law. Should be fun!

One thing I can't get over is how automated everything has become with Maptools and all the online content...I've been away too long!

Welcome to the Portal Jyhazen! And welcome back to the hobby. I had a similar experience as well: I used to game quite a bit in junior high, and early high school, and then got too busy with sports and then college and life in general. It wasn't till after college that a friend reintroduced my to the hobby and I too caught the bug. Anyway, I've always looked forward to the day when I can teach my own kids (when I have them) the game. So I envy your being able to do that. Wish you guys all the best in your campaign. I'm a bit busy at the moment and don't have time to check out your site, but I'll stop by some time soon.

I too had a long break in my play of about 10 years. I played mainly D&D and knew First and Second editions but missed the introduction of Third. Luckily I got back in time to experience 3.5 and that is still the game that I play. As Arsheesh and Killer VP have both mentioned, many have similar experiences, but more importantly, the Portal can become a whole new world of RPG discussion in itself.
