Smurf Accounts

Perhaps I'm being a bit hyper-sensitive (I'm sure a few out there will think so), but it would be great to have a secondary, mutable, secret username (i.e. not visible to anyone but the user) that can be easily shifted into (i.e. without logging into/out of a separate account).

The feature should be part of a user's existing account, and possibly an ascendant-only feature. The purpose is basically to enable users, particularly GMs - but just about anyone could make use of it, to interact on the site, particularly the forums, in cognito. For example, if I want to run a published adventure or an encounter with a dragon (or other monster/challenge/etc.), and want to ask if anyone's got tips on how to set up & run the adventure, it'd be great to be able to do so without potentially ruining the surprise. That's a very basic example, and I imagine the uses it would most likely find would be more significant, but I don't want to spoil any surprises.

I am honestly against this idea. I like to know who I am talking to. In many forums where people can mask their identity, you end up with a group of troublemakers who ruin the forum for the rest of the people.

yeah i kinda agree with stephen, however ruining the surprise is never fun and will definitely happen if you have players active on the site, so under those circumstances i guess you could simply make a second account for that, or just message specific member who could provide good feedback.

Actually against the idea as well, but AugustusGloop has come up with a great way around the issue. He calls it "Plot Club":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/plot-club and it is a private game, so it is gms only. We share ideas and get feedback from each other- I really like it.

    Just trying to help out.

Ahem, killervp, aren't there rules about that?

Steve, I see your point, but I think you know where I was going just the same.

    At any rate: Suggestion withdrawn.
