Holiday Gaming!

Was wondering if anyone had any special plans for their games this holiday season?

Our game is tomorrow, and I am planning on running a nice little holiday themed game... In my last adventure, the PC's were stranded in the tropics. They managed to find their way home to England via a teleportal (the way they got there to begin with, but they didn't know how to open it)... It is April in England, when they returned they found it to be snowing! They checked to make sure that there was no strange time lapse, and there was not. The game session ended there.... and now, I'm set up to run a holiday game in April!! Of course, its not snowing just so I can run a holiday game -- it just happened to work out that way with the timing.

Here's the script I wrote out for the game:

You leave the smoky warmth of the Shark and Anchor and walk into the streets of Ramsgate. This is a bustling and busy city off the coast of the English Channel. The city is surrounded by several great walls that rise up higher and higher like a step, the tallest outer wall being around 80

...you feel a chilling brisk breeze dash across your faces. Its so cold, you can nearly feel ice particles forming on your exposed skin. Suddenly, the once playful snowmen the children were building become encompassed by a flash of bright blue light, in an instant the jolly look turns into angry and evil twisted expressions. Their mouths open to reveal an unnatural maw filled with icicle teeth, steam pouring out from within. Their branched arms begin to move and twist, fingers long and sharp. Children begin to scream, vendors duck behind their carts, some people run leaving their animals. The snow goons begin to attack, grabbing at anyone nearby. The town quickly is consumed by chaos.

The Snow Goons throw snowballs that freeze the PCs for 1d4 rounds if saving throw failed. They also have an icy touch that does the same.

The wind whips up again with another blast of freezing air followed by screams coming from the direction of the bakery cart. Off of the cart you see the freshly baked gingerbread men the baker was selling moments ago spring to life and jump down one by one. No longer are their hands soft brown stubs, but are now wicked claws. Their mouths each now have sharp little fangs.

Another cart bursts with a flash of blue light, the toymaker

If by "special plans for their games this holiday season" you mean running a special game because the holidays are the only time my brother, uncle, and I end up in the same area, then yes. If you mean putting something holiday in the game, then no. (The game is based on Jurassic Park -- should be fun....for me!)

Sadly not doing any gaming. :( Just enjoying winter break with no homework or papers to grade.

Anthony: Sounds like fun! Have a great time!

I'm hoping to squeeze in a session of my ongoing "Tomb of Horrors":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/tohe campaign sometime after X-mas, but organizing things around this time of year is a pain.

Hope you have a good one, Ant.

The pilot episode of "Star Trek Late Night":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/star-trek-late-night is Scheduled to run on December 30th. Holiday themed events will be occuring in the episode but we shall see if the players join in. I think the "Cult of Shub Niggurath":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/star-trek-late-night/wikis/cult-of-shub-niggurath holding thier solstice party should be enough to entice them into something they might be better off avoiding. 8)

Whatever happens I wish each and everyone of you a Merry Christmas/Blessed Solstice/Joyous Quanza/Happy Hanukkah or whatever it is you celebrate.

I second the wish for a joyous celebration of whatever celebration one celebrates!
LOL, and as far as my campaign, "Avatar: Conquest of the imperial Order":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/avatar_adventures goes, we have been on a brake for about a month (eh like 3 weeks) now for the holidays. We were going to wait till the 1st to start up again (to see the results of the Campaign of the Year vote which we are all supremely nervous about!) but we couldn't wait that long so we are now having a session this monday on the 26th! excited to start up again XD

The group will be finally arriving at the Northern Water Tribe after a long journey (fitting for the winter season)

    Enjoy your holidays!
and thanks to everyone who voted Avatar for CotY! :D

Best wishes to all out there, whether gaming or not! Personally, I am celebrating less than one year to go before seeing The Hobbit (Part 1). We each have our own rings to bear though! Keep well!
