What tools are people using to design their banners and link images? I am trying to find something easy to use. I am familiar with Photoshop and will probably use it but is there something simpler?

I use a program mentioned by users here on OP. Its like photoshop but free to download. Its called GIMP. Its been easy to use, especially since I was already a little familiar with photoshop.

Yup, I do all my graphics work, including banners and maps in GIMP as well. While it does lack some important features possessed by PS, it is one powerful program considering that it's free (and, in just a few months, GIMP 2.8 will be released, and it has some sweet new features!).

I have used MS Publisher and edit in Google Picasa - it's a bit laborious but better the devil you know....

well after using "GIMP":http://gofree.com/download/Windows-Software/Graphic-Design/gimp.php I am impressed. It does almost anything I could do with photoshop and its free.
