Items and characters like other wiki pages

Would love to have items and characters part of the wiki. It would be nice to tag players, places, items, et al, and have one tag list. For instance, if one of my characters, Chip, wants to remind himself of all the people he met in the Timiro Kingdom, and what adventures they had there, and what items they got there, upon returning 2 years later, he has to go to each separate section- Characters, Wike, & Items.
An integrated list would really help.
Thanks!

I think there are probably arguments for keeping it separate as well, so my recommendation would be to think about putting everything under the wiki. Under the current system you can put the characters, items, even the adventure logs under the wiki as wiki pages. I realize this might be too much work for a campaign like yours with already existing material, but it is an option and keeps open the possibility for people who would want characters and items separate to keep them separate too.

I know some GMs have done so. Example "Wyrmshadow":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/wyrmshadow/wikis/wyrmshadow-characters and "The system":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaign/system/wikis/player-characters, both by Duskreign. I can't remember who else has done so off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure I've seen it elsewhere.

I don't know. Maybe that just don't quite work for you and other people agree with your request. I really don't have a strong feeling either way, I just like to try to point out alternative that maybe haven't been thought of.

    Happy Gaming,

Thanks for the input Dark. I would do that now if I could start a new campaign... However, I currently have over 50 NPC's and 20 items (many are still GM only, the players will get to them within the next few sessions). That is a lot of cutting and pasting.
Trust me, I have looked at "Wyrmshadow":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/wyrmshadow and I have seriously considered moving all of it anyways.
    Thanks!

Couldn't you just cross tag using url links? That's how I put links to character and wiki pages on the main page. Seems reasonable you could do that elsewhere too, though I haven't tried it in the Miscellany section of the character sheet.

I've done the same thing that Raivnor is suggesting when I've come across it on my "Cthulhu":http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/cthulhusupremusest game. I, too, have too many NPCs, PCs, items, etc. to go back, so it's been a useful catch-all.

I too have wanted this as well, I think everything should be accessable under the wiki, items, characters, maps, adventure logs, etc. I would also like to see a way to leave comments on each and every entry. Sometimes getting feedback on an item or character is very helpful for developing future ones. Retooling my campaign to work this way would take many months and is far more time consuming than I am willing to commit to.

Wow, serious resurrection spell! I did put everything under the wiki, and will never go back!! The pcs know they can hit any tag to get where/who they want.

I'm not sure I understand the difference. I have my Wiki, and as you read if you come to a character, clicking the name takes you to the character page. On the character page, if there's parts that have to do with things in the Wiki, I just make them links back to the relevant page.

Is there some lack of functionality I haven't noticed yet? I'm just building my campaign right now, so it would be better to know about such a problem before I run into it much later.

    Hi Whimper,

I think they're speaking of the "sort by tag" system: actually they are wiki tags, characters tags and items tags, each independent with the others. And I agree with them, it will be more useful if they were linked together.

(And I'm so soooorry for my poor english...)

Pils is correct- items and characters are on separately tagged, and that is why we went all Wiki- so the tags are all integrated.
