Edittable sidebars
Whilst you're looking at changing the design of the front end, could you make some of the UI user edittable? Maybe allow us to pick which boxes appear in the sidebar of each screen and which tabs appear on the navigation bar.
You could go even further and make these element user edittable for those of us with some html moxy. I'd love to be able to use custom images for the tabs so they match my banner and change the format of the sidebar so that the text and backgrounds match the theme of the rest of my wiki.
