I'm new to pen & paper D&D. I have the 4e books. I would like to play with a group that is just starting or hasn't been started long. I am in the United States in the Eastern Time zone.

Have you tried using the "Games Nearby" link at the top of the obsidian portal website? It may help you find a group nearby :-)
